Fostering sustainable nature conservation, Siam Yamato Steel Co., Ltd. or <\/strong>SYS<\/strong><\/span> - the trusted Thai steel, has established policies based on good governance, focusing on environmental care and the well-being of local communities. In 2022, SYS collaborated with the Department of Forestry and the Rayong Community Forest Network to initiate the “Community Volunteer Forest Planting Project”<\/span><\/strong> aimed at conserving and restoring watershed forests and preventing wildfires. This initiative received support from various sectors, including community forest management, the Forest Resource Management Office No. 9 Chonburi, the Community Forestry Promotion Center No. 6 (Rayong), the Rayong Seedling Nursery Station, the Rayong Forestry Center, the Khao Chamao-Khao Wong Wildfire Control Station, the Rayong Provincial Administrative Organization, the Special Case Operations Center Region 2 of the Internal Security Operations Command in Rayong, the Air Defense Artillery Battalion, the Ban Chang District Agricultural Office, Ban Chang Kanjanakunwittaya School, and local community organizations. The planting activity was honored by the presence of Mr. Ruangrit Prakobtham, the District Chief of Ban Chang, Rayong Province<\/strong>, who presided over the opening ceremony at the Ban Nong Takian Forest in the Samnak Thon Subdistrict, Ban Chang District, Rayong Province.<\/span>

“Conserving forests, which are sources of water, and preventing wildfires will help reduce global warming issues and create cultural connections between the private sector, communities, and government in building forests as sources of water, ensuring sustainable social, economic, and environmental development through the cooperation of everyone involved,” Mr. Ruangrit Prakobtham, District Chief of Ban Chang, Rayong Province<\/strong> stated.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Meanwhile, Mr. Jedsada Plangmanee, Managing Director of Siam Yamato Steel Co., Ltd. or <\/strong>SYS<\/strong><\/span> stated, “The purpose of this tree planting project is to conserve and restore degraded watershed forests to their former richness and to prevent the impacts of wildfires, enhancing the ecosystem through collaboration between the government, private sector, and communities in a community volunteer format, strengthening social, economic, and environmental sustainability.”<\/p>

Mr. Phanom Nonphimai, Chairman of the Rayong Community Forest Network<\/strong><\/span> provided additional information, stating, “The Community Volunteer Forest Planting Project is organized in the national reserved forest areas of Huai Mahad Mountain, Nang Yong Mountain, and Krok Mountain, which are designated for community forest establishment, covering approximately 11 rai. A total of 3,009 trees were planted, including Padauk, Rubber trees, Makha, and Golden Takian. This will increase green space in Ban Chang District by 20%. Once fully grown, these trees can absorb up to 24,000 kilograms of carbon dioxide annually, significantly contributing to the production of clean air and enhancing the richness of forests and water sources, allowing people to coexist harmoniously with nature in the long term.”<\/p>

Mr. Nachaphat Sudkhanueng<\/strong> <\/strong>one of the employee representatives participating in this activity<\/strong><\/span> added, “The tree planting project initiated by SYS is immensely valuable. It not only benefits the environment by increasing green areas and moisture in the surroundings but also fosters community involvement and provides income opportunities for locals to harvest and sell forest products sustainably.”<\/span><\/p>
