WIDE HOUSE Design and Build is set to break the mold of the home construction business in Thailand as customer behaviors shift towards spending more time at home. This change necessitates adjustments in the home construction industry, as a single house design can no longer meet the diverse needs of today’s clients. The company emphasizes its expertise in transforming lifestyles into functional home designs that cater to all living requirements, with a projected market growth of 300% in its first year.

Mr. Thanachpong Jirachatchaiwong, Executive Director of WIDE HOUSE Design and Build, stated that the current value of Thailand's home construction business exceeds 200 billion baht. The company is confident that the market will continue to grow, as having a home is one of the four essential factors for living. Moreover, owning a home has become a significant indicator of success. Today's home building trends place customers at the center of the design process, with varying lifestyles leading to different ideal home designs. These insights have been utilized as a foundation for WIDE HOUSE's designs to maximize customer satisfaction.

“The difference consumers will experience when using WIDE HOUSE services is the openness and freedom of thought in designing their homes according to their preferred styles. We do not confine customers to pre-existing designs; they can fully create functions that align with their lifestyles in collaboration with WIDE HOUSE's professional architects and the interior design team from our partner, SW STUDIO, which has over 10 years of international design experience. This ensures that the homes truly meet the lifestyle needs of our clients and their families,” Mr. Thanachpong Jirachatchaiwong explained about the unique offerings of WIDE HOUSE.

Currently, Thai designers are recognized for their creativity, attention to beauty, intricacy, and proportions in their work, which has evolved from the past to the present. The potential of Thai designers is gaining global recognition. WIDE HOUSE is committed to delivering this valuable service to customers in Thailand, providing a new experience that enhances creative freedom to achieve a home that truly belongs to them and their families. The current trending home designs include minimalist styles that are simple yet modern, with sufficient functionality. Another style gaining popularity is Nordic, which is similar to minimalism but offers a warmer tone and atmosphere.

Currently, WIDE HOUSE's target market is divided into two main groups: extended families with no more than two generations living together, and single families, which are larger families with more than three generations living in close proximity. Mr. Thanachpong added that most of WIDE HOUSE's clients already own land, often inherited from previous generations, and are looking to build new homes to replace those built by their grandparents or parents. The functions of homes for this group often involve expanding the family, typically including elderly members from one or two generations. The other group consists of younger families who have separated to form extended families, with relatively high purchasing power, often seeking land in urban areas, which may be limited in size but do not require them to venture into suburban areas. They already have preferred home styles and specific functional requirements. Both groups remain the primary clientele interested in our services, and it is evident that their needs differ. Each family has clear requirements before approaching us. When they meet with the WIDE HOUSE architect team, we engage in brainstorming and exchanging ideas to establish a foundation for creating uniquely designed homes for each family, while also providing comprehensive services from design, construction, and interior decoration to post-construction care.

Despite the challenges faced by the Thai home construction business during the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to a significant slowdown in decision-making, especially for homes priced below 10 million baht due to financial institution interest rates and liquidity issues, the situation is now improving. We believe that the demand for homes in this segment will rebound better than in the past two years. However, it is noteworthy that the segment for homes priced above 10 million baht has not been affected, as these clients already have the financial capacity. “It is clear that as the COVID-19 situation begins to ease, the purchasing power of the new generation is increasingly recognizing the importance of home construction companies that can design homes that align with their lifestyles. This shift is a result of the pandemic, which has altered people's living behaviors. Homes must now serve more than just as residences; they need to function as workplaces and spaces for various recreational activities, allowing residents to remain engaged 24/7. This is particularly evident among Gen C clients, who are highly individualistic, tech-savvy, financially savvy, and value convenience. They seek unique styles and prefer to manage everything themselves while balancing work and personal life. This demographic is one to watch, and WIDE HOUSE believes that traditional business models of existing home construction companies may not fully meet the needs of this group. Therefore, flexibility, openness to ideas, and advice from experienced individuals to realize their ideal homes are what modern clients are seeking. This is the turning point that WIDE HOUSE has developed its services to comprehensively meet these demands,” Mr. Thanachpong added.
