Currently, many countries are rapidly vaccinating their populations against COVID-19, particularly focusing on completing the vaccination doses (receiving two or more doses). Countries such as the UK, Australia, Sweden, Denmark, and Israel have begun or are planning to lift social restrictions and prepare to reopen their borders to welcome tourists, especially during the upcoming high season this summer.

According to the New York Times, the country with the highest vaccination coverage is the United Arab Emirates, with 97% of its population fully vaccinated, followed by Brunei (93%) and Malta (92%). There are a total of 20 countries where more than 80% of the population has received complete vaccination.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand ranks sixth in vaccination rates, with 71% of its population fully vaccinated. Although Thailand's figures are lower than neighboring countries like Cambodia, Malaysia, or Vietnam, the vaccination rate in Thailand is still higher than that of the United States, which stands at 65%.

While there are still other countries in Southeast Asia with less than 50% of their populations fully vaccinated, there is a positive trend, as over 95% of the population in Southeast Asian countries expresses a desire to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, resulting in less resistance to vaccination compared to other countries.
