Pruksa Aids COVID Crisis by Donating 3 Rai of Land for Field Hospital
"Pruksa", a leader in housing in Thailand, has donated 3 rai of land opposite Lerdsin Hospital to establish a temporary field hospital to accommodate red and yellow COVID patients amid a shortage of beds. This facility is expected to be operational by October.
Mr. Thongma Vijitpongpun, Chairman and CEO of Pruksa Holding Public Company Limited, stated, "Given the current situation, the number of COVID patients remains high, leading to a shortage of beds and ICU rooms for those requiring medical care. Pruksa has collaborated with Lerdsin Hospital, under the Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health, which is currently overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients. We identified the vacant land opposite the hospital as suitable for constructing a field hospital to alleviate the overcrowding of COVID patients in the hospital."
Therefore, to contribute to alleviating the crisis faced by the Thai people, Pruksa has donated 3 rai of land for use as a temporary field hospital to accommodate COVID patients at no cost. The construction of this field hospital is a collaboration between Pruksa and Lerdsin Hospital, along with other private sectors, aiming to support a total of 200 patients classified as red and yellow. The Department of Medical Services has already begun construction work. Once completed, it will be able to accommodate 18 red patients and up to 182 yellow patients, with services expected to commence in October.
This field hospital will be built under the standards set by the Ministry of Public Health, incorporating disinfection systems and wastewater treatment systems to ensure the highest safety for patients and medical personnel, as well as all staff in the center and surrounding communities. Necessary equipment for patients requiring respiratory support will be installed, with designated areas for screening and clearly separated zones for red and yellow patients.
The field hospital will enable patients to access care more quickly while relieving the burden on medical staff in hospitals. The land is conveniently located opposite Lerdsin Hospital, making it accessible in case patients experience changes in their condition and require emergency assistance or need to use large medical equipment available at Lerdsin Hospital.
"This field hospital reflects Pruksa's commitment to being a part of the effort to assist and alleviate the suffering of the Thai people, while also easing the responsibilities of the government, as we work together to overcome the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in Thailand across all sectors,"
