Online Home Building Fair 2021, Second Edition from September 10 - 20, 2021
The Home Builder Association is investing in the development of a system to host the Online Home Building Fair, Second Edition from September 10 - 20, 2021. According to Mr. Worawut Kanjanakul, the new platform aims to pave the way for long-term planning in response to various environmental changes, hoping to assist consumers in connecting with member home building companies of the association conveniently and quickly in 'real-time'.
Mr. Worawut Kanjanakul, President of the Home Builder Association (HBA), revealed that the association is ready to host the Online Home Building Fair 2021, scheduled from September 10-20, 2021, accessible at www.hba-th.org. This event marks the second occurrence (the first was held from March 20-31, 2020) in a Virtual Online format, where the association has invested significantly in enhancing the system's completeness compared to the first event. This aims to allow consumers looking to build homes to connect with member home building companies of the association conveniently and quickly in 'real-time'. The developed system is stable and ready for long-term use, which is expected to meet the needs of businesses in the digital era that focus on creating a database for new groups of home builders. Meanwhile, consumers can easily access information, including house designs and various promotions, and visit the fair conveniently while preventing the spread of diseases, especially COVID-19.

Moreover, the platform for the Online Home Building Fair developed by the association is intended to lay the groundwork for long-term planning in response to changes from various environmental factors. In times of crisis that impact businesses or marketing activities, online sales can be conducted, or during normal situations, events can be organized alongside offline activities.
Mr. Worawut also mentioned that filling the gap with activities through the Online Home Building Fair will serve as a stimulus or momentum for the market in the fourth quarter of 2021, where the association plans to hold the "Home Building and Materials Expo 2021" in November. It is hoped that the COVID-19 outbreak situation will improve, with more people vaccinated and a decrease in infection rates. As conditions improve, it is believed that the 72% of consumers who have delayed building homes due to the pandemic will regain confidence and decide to proceed with their home construction.
Note: This information is based on a survey conducted with nearly 400 consumer respondents from June 1-15, 2021, revealing interesting data as follows:
- The COVID-19 outbreak significantly affects the decision to build homes, with 72% indicating it influences their decision, while 28% reported no impact. This data likely reflects the high-end market, which remains viable compared to the smaller or general market (Mass) for homes priced under 5 million baht. The pandemic's impact on home construction decisions may also explain why home building companies that previously focused on the general market (Mass) under 5 million baht have shifted to target the high-end market starting from 10 million baht and above.
- When asked how long they would take to build a home ready for occupancy, 24% indicated they could build within 6 months, 65% would take more than 6 months to 2 years, and 11% would take 2-3 years.
The top three preferred locations for building homes are: first, the Bangkok Metropolitan Area/Peripheral areas at 37%; second, Central Region (excluding Bangkok Metropolitan Area/Peripheral areas) at 18%; and third, Southern Region at 18%. - The most frequently accessed media by consumers is Facebook, accounting for a significant 92.8%.
From the survey, it was found that 84.2% of consumers still considering building homes are members of the association, reflecting consumer confidence. Therefore, the association is improving access channels between members and consumers through the Home Builder Association website at www.hba-th.org to make it easier for those interested in building homes to find information and access various house designs along with member promotions. Additionally, the website is continuously promoted, and content beneficial to members and consumers is being developed.
