Cabinet Approves 157 Projects with a Budget of 800 Million
The Cabinet has approved additional funding for 157 projects under the 1 trillion baht loan scheme aimed at economic and social recovery, amounting to over 800 million baht, and is expediting the approval process for the remaining projects.
Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Cabinet meeting approved the use of loan funds for economic and social recovery, adding 157 projects with a budget of 884.62 million baht. These projects were proposed by various provinces, covering 57 provinces in total, with 22 projects in the North, 65 in the Northeast, 30 in the Central region, 2 in the East, and 38 in the South and border provinces.
"All 157 projects allocate budget directly to the people and are overseen by various agencies, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Tourism and Sports. Additionally, the Prime Minister has urged for the swift consideration and approval of the remaining projects," Ms. Rachada stated.
1. In terms of providing production factors and facilities, projects include promoting and developing safe farmers, a comprehensive organic agriculture project in Lampang, enhancing the production and marketing efficiency of goat meat in Loei, and developing the production potential of mulberry in Saraburi.
2. Regarding the enhancement of quality standards and the creation of added value for local community products, projects include developing packaging for local fruit identities, such as Sarika durian and Thip Phang Nga mangosteen in Phang Nga, and upgrading agricultural product quality to safe agricultural standards in Pathum Thani.
3. For market access, there is a project to promote product marketing based on new lifestyle trends in Lamphun.
4. In promoting market products linked to tourism and services, projects include community chefs to enhance food tourism in Kanchanaburi and the Wagyu beef and durian project in Nakhon Sawan.
5. For promoting community products linked to tourism and services, projects include developing woven fabric from the Lawa community in Mae Hong Son and health tourism development in Surat Thani.
6. In terms of infrastructure development, projects include developing water sources to enhance production capabilities in the Phu Phan development area in Sakon Nakhon and promoting integrated agriculture efficiency through soil and water conservation systems in Phuket.
As of July 29, 2020, the Cabinet has already approved a budget framework of 92.4 billion baht, with 10 projects approved for loan use amounting to 41.949 billion baht.
Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-o-cha stated that the Cabinet approved the spending plan for loan funds under the economic and social recovery budget affected by COVID-19, with a budget framework of 400 billion baht in the first phase, which is being gradually proposed in order. Each proposal has been screened and discussed to ensure everything proceeds in line with the current situation.
