Urgent Check! Bangkok Announces Closure of Cockfighting, Bullfighting, and Fish Fighting Arenas Effective Today
Asawin Kwanmuang, the Governor of Bangkok, has signed a proclamation regarding the temporary closure of venues (Announcement No. 13) including cockfighting arenas, cockfighting training grounds, bullfighting arenas, and fish fighting arenas, effective from August 1 to August 31, 2020.
According to reports, on July 31, 2020, Mr. Asawin Kwanmuang, the Governor of Bangkok, signed the proclamation regarding the temporary closure of venues (Announcement No. 13).
This follows the announcement regarding the extension of the state of emergency across all areas of the kingdom (the fourth time) dated July 29, 2020, which extends the enforcement of the state of emergency until August 31, 2020, and the issuance of regulations under Section 9 of the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situations B.E. 2548 (Announcement No. 13) dated July 31, 2020.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to comply with the aforementioned regulations, which aim to protect the public health security of the country and prevent a new outbreak that could be severe and damage the economy, the Governor of Bangkok, under the authority of Section 35 (1) of the Communicable Diseases Act B.E. 2558, in conjunction with the regulations issued under Section 9 of the Emergency Decree on Public Administration in Emergency Situations B.E. 2548 (Announcement No. 13) dated July 31, 2020, with the approval of the Bangkok Communicable Disease Committee as per the resolution of the 16th meeting of 2020 on July 31, 2020, has ordered the temporary closure of these venues and instructed all related parties to adhere to health safety measures.
