LPP Moves Forward with Emergency Plan After Finding COVID-19 Infection in Condominium Management Staff
LPP is implementing its emergency action plan by dispatching an emergency team to close the management office of the Lumpini Park Rama 9-Ratchada condominium project after a staff member exhibited high fever symptoms and was later confirmed by a doctor to be infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The area will undergo a Big Cleaning and will be closed for 7 days to ensure the safety of residents and staff.
Ms. Somsri Techakraisri, Managing Director of Lumpini Property Management Co., Ltd. (LPP), a community management company under L.P.N. Development Public Company Limited, stated that on March 15, 2020, a staff member responsible for managing the condominium showed high fever and sought medical attention. The doctor subsequently confirmed that the employee was infected with COVID-19 and reported the results to the company. The company immediately activated its pre-established emergency plan, sending the affected employee to the hospital and notifying the Disease Control Department of the Ministry of Public Health to initiate an investigation into the source of the infection over the past 7 days, in accordance with the Ministry's standards.
Simultaneously, the company informed the condominium's board of directors and residents about the situation and proceeded to close the management office and common areas for 7 days. An extensive cleaning operation was launched across the entire project and two adjacent projects: Lumpini Place Rama 9-Ratchada (AB) and Lumpini Place Rama 9-Ratchada (CD) to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the area. Additionally, the team contacted individuals who had close contact with the infected employee over the past 7 days, advising them to monitor their health for 14 days as part of the preventive measures against the virus. If any symptoms arise, such as a temperature exceeding 37.5 degrees Celsius, coughing, sneezing, or difficulty breathing, they are advised to seek medical attention immediately.
“As soon as we learned of the situation, we implemented all necessary measures rigorously to reduce the risk of infection and the spread of COVID-19 in the project, while adhering to the guidelines of the Disease Control Department of the Ministry of Public Health in monitoring and following up with those who had contact with the patient. We consider this our duty and responsibility to the community we manage and to society at large,” Ms. Somsri stated.
LPP places great importance on implementing measures to protect the more than 180 communities it manages from the spread of COVID-19, with an emergency action plan ready to respond to ongoing emergency situations. An emergency team is prepared to operate in areas where cases are detected within 2 hours, ensuring that patients are sent to hospitals and that high-risk areas are immediately closed for cleaning and disinfection.
“The emergency team is established to manage all communities, with initial measures in place when a case is detected. They act swiftly to close high-risk areas within 2 hours, following the company's protocols recommended by the Ministry of Public Health. We close these areas for 7 days from the date of detection to clean and disinfect the premises. To protect and reduce risks for residents, we will partially resume services on the 8th to 14th day after the detection of the case, assessing readiness to mitigate risks before fully reopening on the 15th day. This plan will be continuously adjusted to suit the situation,” Ms. Somsri explained.
Additionally, LPP has established community care measures under the abnormal circumstances caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, following the recommendations of the Disease Control Department of the Ministry of Public Health. This includes setting up screening points for building entry and exit, requiring temperature checks, and closely monitoring symptoms. If staff, residents, or owners continue to have persistent high fever for several days, the team will recommend medical evaluation to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Cleaning of all contact points, such as entrance doors and elevators, will occur every 45-60 minutes to reduce the risk of virus transmission. Elevator management will ensure no overcrowding by scheduling and limiting the number of users, along with educating staff, residents, and owners on preventive measures against COVID-19.
“We are not complacent about the abnormal situation of the COVID-19 outbreak and prioritize every measure that contributes to reducing its spread. All measures have received cooperation from the condominium board, owners, and residents in every project, along with support from the Ministry of Public Health. We are confident that with our policy of 'Unity, Care, and Sharing,' we can manage the situation effectively and instill confidence in the owners of all the communities we manage, ensuring that we can navigate this challenging time together and maintain our communities as 'desirable places to live,'” Ms. Somsri concluded.
