Home Building Business Association Promotes 3 Key Policies to Stimulate the Home Building Market, Anticipates 5% Market Share Increase in 2020

Mr. Worawut Kanjanakul, President of the Home Building Business Association stated that currently, member companies of the association hold about 25% market share, amounting to a total market value of 12.5 billion baht. It is expected that in 2020, the home building business will be able to increase its overall market share by 5% due to the growing number of home building members in the region, raising awareness, and building consumer confidence in the home building business. Last year, the market for self-built homes reached a total value of 200 billion baht, primarily consisting of homes priced between 1-3 million baht in rural areas.
During his term as president from 2020 to 2022, he aims to promote 3 main policies to ensure continuous growth in the business and adapt to the rapidly changing economic landscape. The three main policies are: 1. Establish the association as a trusted entity for consumers by developing the association's website for accurate information access, organizing home building exhibitions, and promoting them widely; 2. Foster member participation to create value in the home building market through product and service development, marketing strategies presented to consumers at exhibitions, and collaboration with educational institutions to produce skilled personnel for the industry; and 3. Sustainable development where the association will encourage members to grow sustainably amidst economic changes, focusing on knowledge creation and innovation, skill development through training seminars, international study visits, and knowledge exchange with organizations both domestically and abroad, as well as supporting members in designing standard homes suitable for an aging society.

The development of these policies over the next three years will be divided into three phases: in the first year, enhancing awareness among society, government, and various agencies; in the second year, focusing on developing a standard manual for home building; and in the third year, moving towards sustainability to analyze consumer awareness, membership growth, and provide guidance for the next generation of management.
However, the home building business group hopes the government will implement measures to stimulate purchasing power in real estate, which includes the home building business, to support the continued progress of the home building industry and make it easier for Thai people to own homes, especially for customers in rural areas, who predominantly prefer to build homes priced between 1-3 million baht.
