Singha Estate Unites with Sun Towers Community to Create a Livable Neighborhood and Reduce Plastic Use on World Oceans Day
Singha Estate, in collaboration with partner companies at Sun Towers, launched the "Sea You Tomorrow" campaign to promote plastic waste reduction and proper waste segregation, aiming to decrease waste from urban areas reaching the sea, in celebration of World Oceans Day. The initiative encourages employees, vendors, and the surrounding community to adopt sustainable plastic use behaviors, with the goal of creating a livable community and a model office society.

Mr. Narit Chayaklin, Chief Executive Officer of Singha Estate Public Company Limited, stated, "The philosophy of sustainable development at Singha Estate is to maintain balance and create sustainability for every community we are part of. In the past, the company has implemented various projects focused on the conservation and restoration of marine natural resources, recognizing the value of these resources to our communities and Thailand. Historically, restoration has been seen as a solution to problems after they occur, but we have found that the heart of conservation lies in prevention. To effectively preserve natural resources, we must work together to prevent issues from the outset. Once we prevent problems from arising, restoration becomes easier. Currently, a major issue for our oceans is plastic waste, with over 80% originating from urban communities. Thailand ranks sixth in the world for marine waste generation, making ocean waste a pressing agenda for both Thai and global waters."

This year, on World Oceans Day, Singha Estate aims to raise awareness about the causes and impacts of marine waste. Together with partner companies at Sun Towers, they launched the Sea You Tomorrow campaign to encourage urban residents to reduce plastic waste and promote proper waste segregation. The target audience includes over 10,000 office workers in Sun Towers, vendors, and the general public. The campaign focuses on communicating the impacts of using single-use plastic bags and aims to change behaviors regarding plastic use among both buyers and sellers, as well as proper waste disposal and segregation methods through engaging activities accessible to all ages, such as exhibitions and discussions. Participants can also join the 21 Days Challenge to collectively reduce plastic use and earn points through an application over 21 days.
"The expectation for this campaign is to create a truly livable office community around Sun Towers, while also encouraging public-mindedness and raising awareness about the dangers of plastic waste and its impact on marine environments. We aim to foster sustainable behavior changes to reduce, eliminate, and replace single-use plastics with reusable bags and containers in daily purchases. Additionally, we encourage sharing knowledge about proper waste management with family and friends, thereby expanding the livable community continuously. We believe that significant change will stem from the small actions everyone takes today," Mr. Narit concluded.
