Bangkok, Thailand, February 21, 2018
The countdown begins for the PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards 2018, returning on August 31, 2018, honoring the best real estate operators in the country and the most proactive developers of the year.
The annual awards ceremony, presented by Kohler and supported by the official website DDproperty.com, the leading real estate website in Thailand, will celebrate its 13th edition by introducing new award categories, including Smart Home Development, Best Co-working Space, and residential developments for the elderly, increasing the total number of awards to 40.
Additionally, the committee has announced a new special award for public benefit buildings, which will be given to structures that serve health care, education, public services, transportation, charitable activities, and religious purposes, regardless of whether they are privately or publicly owned.
The nomination process for this year's awards is now open to the public, allowing individuals to submit project nominations and developer names until June 8, 2018. Nominations can be submitted online at AsiaPropertyAwards.com/nomination/thailand/.
Mr. Suphin Mechuchep, Managing Director of Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) and Chairman of the Judging Panel, commented that the PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards have gained increasing recognition. The expanded judging categories will likely lead to a larger number of participants, necessitating on-site evaluations of project locations and assessments of each project's intent and delivery to clients.
“The PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards benefit the real estate development industry and its operators. We believe that supporting the announcement of these prestigious awards and promoting quality projects will set an example and encourage excellence in the overall Thai real estate industry,” Mr. Suphin stated.
This year, the judging panel has placed significant emphasis on the growing popularity of co-working spaces, partly due to the substantial increase in new offices and multi-purpose buildings, especially in Bangkok, to cater to a diverse range of employees today, including freelancers who work online and prefer not to be confined to traditional office settings.
Mr. Suphin emphasized, “The design of residential spaces and the creative concepts of new office buildings have made projects stand out significantly. Major cities around the world are competing to elevate their real estate sectors.”
Another niche market that deserves attention is the elderly housing sector, which JLL Thailand previously described in late 2017 as “a relatively small market with high growth potential.” Thailand is one of the target regions for retirement living for both expatriates and many affluent locals. Coupled with reasonable living costs and affordable healthcare, JLL analysts believe that real estate developers and their partners will soon enter this market.
According to the latest market trend report presented by DDproperty.com this year, many builders are adopting smart building applications for their residential or commercial properties, utilizing remote monitoring systems via the internet to oversee, manage, and control living spaces, including lighting, temperature management, and security systems.
The gala dinner for the 13th PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards will be held at The Athenee Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Bangkok, with 600 attendees including senior executives and VIPs. The event will commence with a cocktail reception at 6:00 PM, followed by a four-hour ceremony featuring presentations that reflect the stature of property developers, along with a red carpet welcome for nominated developers and a four-course dinner with beverages throughout the event.
Winners in the main categories will be sent to compete in the final round of the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, which will take place in Thailand for the first time on November 9, 2018. This ceremony will be held at the same venue, The Athenee Hotel. In addition to the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, the organizers will also host an unmissable seminar, the PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit, at The Athenee Hotel on November 8-9, 2018.
Mr. Terry Blackburn, Founder and Managing Director of the Awards, stated, ‘For proactive developers, each year brings the opportunity to create outstanding projects that adapt to market trends and consumer demands, presenting real estate in the best possible light in the Asia-Pacific region. The PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards recognizes their hard work and aligns perfectly with Thailand hosting the final round, making it an excellent starting point for new awards and a fitting venue to celebrate success in this 13th year.’
The 13th PropertyGuru Thailand Property Awards is supported by official sponsor Kohler, with co-sponsors including Hitachi Elevators, JLL Thailand, Thai Airways, and DDproperty.com as the leading real estate website in Thailand, along with leading media sponsors such as Prestige Thailand and PropertyGuru Property Report, the real estate, architecture, and design magazine, and Official Supervisor BDO, the largest global accounting firm, led by co-executive Mr. Paul Ashburn.
