This video is not only highly beneficial for principles that can be applied to develop cities like Portland into successful, sustainable urban environments, but it is also suitable for city executives and leaders of various organizations who should pay attention to Portland's urban experiences, including the obstacles they faced and how they resolved them. From what I observed after watching the entire video, their initial challenges were similar to those of many major cities worldwide. However, they adhered to three key principles. What could these be? The Smart Growth Thailand team recommends watching the video. I assure you that if you understand these principles, you too can transform your city into a livable place, just like the former mayor of Portland, Mr. Charles Hales, who is the keynote speaker in the video shared in this article.

(Video) Keynote Speech by Mr. Charles Hales (with Thai subtitles)

Portland is regarded as one of the model cities in the world, known for being "livable" and ranking among the top cities globally. It is an educational city where people commute by tram and bicycle, with green spaces distributed throughout every community. Let's listen to the mayor of Portland share how the city has evolved into what it is today, what challenges it faced, and the steps taken along the way.
