Reviving Tha Chalom as a Tourist City

A Pilot Area for Community and Historical Tourism Development

Towards Promoting Community Participation in Urban Development

This is Tha Chalom railway station, which is currently being revamped to look clean and beautiful by the Samut Sakhon Urban Development Group. Their goal is to transform Tha Chalom into a community and historical tourism destination. Initially, the railway station has been repainted, with an expert overseeing the structure and history to ensure the colors harmonize. The main colors chosen are cream yellow and brown. It is expected that in a few days, this railway station will be completed, likely making it more appealing to tourists as it will serve as another picturesque spot for retro-style photos.

Additionally, there will be street art painted on the walls, with one piece already completed on the wall leading to the pier. This charming tricycle image is a small corner where people can take photos. There are plans to add three more pieces that will reflect the stories of the Tha Chalom community. Furthermore, there are plans to improve Tha Chalom as a whole, including promoting traditional food stalls as street art, preparing homestays for tourists who enjoy this type of relaxation, and enhancing the appeal of the tricycles. The tricycles have been repainted to be more colorful, and a registry of all riders will be created for tourist information. A tourism center for Tha Chalom will also be established as a central service point for incoming tourists. The project initiators have surveyed local opinions, and most residents are interested; many want to see Tha Chalom improve. Several locals have joined as volunteers to help develop the area further. We will have to wait and see how the artwork they create turns out and continue to support them.
