Home Builder Association Thrilled with Results from 'Home Builder & Materials Expo 2017' - 4 Days of Bookings Exceeding 2.68 Billion Baht
The Home Builder Association is delighted with the outcome of the 'Home Builder & Materials Expo 2017', which generated over 2.68 billion baht in sales over four days, highlighting the booming market for homes priced between 3-5 million baht.
Mr. Pichit Arunpallop, President of the Home Builder Association (HBA), revealed that the 'Home Builder & Materials Expo 2017' held from August 17-20, 2017, at the Plenary Hall of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, attracted over 42,000 visitors during the four-day event, nearly matching the attendance of the 'Home Builder Expo 2016 GET MORE: One-stop solution for home building.' The segment of homes priced between 3-5 million baht received the highest number of bookings from customers.
The majority of home builders are young individuals who have separated from their families and possess a certain level of savings, including parents building homes for their children. Additionally, there are newcomers to business or startups that are increasingly ready to construct homes. “What we observed this year is that there were individuals aged 50 and above who booked two homes in the same area, and upon inquiry, they intended to build homes for their two children,” Mr. Pichit noted. Conversations with general customers who booked homes at the event revealed that some already had savings, while others sought loans from partner banks that participated in the expo, which could meet customer needs regarding quality and comprehensive services.
Mr. Pichit also stated that this year marks the first time the association has adjusted its strategy by collaborating with partners who manufacture and distribute construction materials to showcase innovations. This attracted significant interest from attendees who visited booths to inquire about various materials. Most of these individuals did not necessarily want to build new homes but were looking to select materials. The collaboration with material partners achieved the association's goal of providing options for consumers looking to renovate their existing homes instead of building new ones.
The 'Home Builder & Materials Expo 2017', held from August 17-20, 2017, at the Plenary Hall of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, is considered a key event for the association aimed at elevating the standards of the home building business to gain wider acceptance among consumers. It also aims to enhance the confidence in Thai home building businesses. Over 30 home building companies participated, offering more than 1,000 house designs, making it the largest collection of house designs in one event. Additionally, many companies showcased the latest house designs that had never been presented before, along with special promotions for those looking to build homes, alongside companies producing construction materials, home decor equipment, financial institutions, and other partners. The total bookings reached over 2.68 billion baht, with expectations of additional follow-up bookings as many customers had not made final decisions during the event.
“The association set a target of 2.5 to 2.7 billion baht, and the bookings achieved during the event exceeded our expectations,” Mr. Pichit concluded, adding that based on the data collected from consumer surveys and general attendees, there are several interesting and beneficial points for the home building industry and the association's members. The association will use this information to adjust strategies for future events, which are held twice a year to promote sales and marketing for member businesses, specifically the 'Home Builder Focus & Expo' scheduled for March and August each year.
