Mr. Pichit Arunpalap, President of the Home Builder Association (HBA), revealed that the 2017 Annual Academic Seminar is one of the association's key activities held annually in line with its mission to establish the Home Builder Association as a leading organization in the industry. This comes at a time when consumer purchasing power has not fully recovered, coupled with labor challenges that continue to pressure the overall business landscape. Additionally, the industry faces rapid changes driven by technology. All these factors significantly impact the business. The seminar, themed “Home Builder 4.0: Decoding Innovation to Bring Value to Business”, will feature two speakers: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tohtrakool Yomnak, Chairman of Tohtrakool Yomnak Consulting Engineers Co., Ltd., and Dr. Suwan Chanthiwatsarakit, a lecturer in the CIO program at Thammasat University’s College of Innovation. Both speakers bring extensive experience in design, construction, and innovation, and the association believes their insights will greatly benefit its members, business partners, and the general public.

“Importantly, this year our association is honored to have Mr. Sontirat Sontijirawong, Deputy Minister of Commerce, as the keynote speaker on the topic “Enhancing and Connecting the Construction Service Business Chain to Drive the Grassroots Economy under the Thailand 4.0 Policy”. This will help our members gain a clearer understanding of economic driving policies through business, which will benefit home builders, many of whom are SMEs, in adapting to lead their businesses toward sustainability,” Mr. Pichit stated.

Mr. Pichit also mentioned that the various contexts currently unfolding are accelerating the industry toward a turning point! The key issues include: 1. The need for rapid adaptation; 2. In an era of labor shortages or rising cost burdens, construction that minimizes labor and instead utilizes efficient construction technologies or prefabricated materials is a significant change to enhance productivity; and 3. Accessing diverse consumer data through multiple channels is crucial for businesses to adapt, identify their strengths, and create selling points that connect customer needs with technology.

“I believe the trends of change in the digital age, Big Data, Social Networks, and others are all accelerating home builders to adapt quickly. I am confident that technology will play a crucial role for business owners in shaping or defining strategies to achieve new growth targets in the future,” Mr. Pichit emphasized at the end.
