House and Garden, in collaboration with SCG Landscape, invites the new generation to participate in the 'GOOD WALK DESIGN AWARD 2026' sidewalk design competition with a prize pool of over 80,000 baht and a chance for real implementation
House and Garden, in collaboration with SCG Landscape, under the GOOD WALK THAILAND project, is opening a platform for the new generation to be part of designing the future of the city through the GOOD WALK DESIGN AWARD 2026 competition. The theme is 'Chiang Mai Walkable City', inviting students to submit their designs for sidewalks and landscapes in the Tha Pae walking street area of Chiang Mai, competing for a total prize of over 80,000 baht, along with the opportunity for their designs to be developed into real projects.
Chiang Mai is one of the cities with high potential for developing the Walkable City concept due to its compact urban layout, easily accessible tourist attractions, and a lifestyle that is closely tied to the use of public spaces. This makes it a city conducive to walking and presents opportunities to enhance the quality of sidewalks to accommodate the diverse needs of its residents.
The GOOD WALK DESIGN AWARD 2026 provides a space for students to showcase their potential and present creative ideas under the key question: 'What kind of sidewalk' will truly meet the needs of Chiang Mai? This initiative aims to propel Chiang Mai towards becoming a model city that uses walking as a key mechanism for sustainable urban development.
The study area for this competition is the 'Tha Pae Walking Street', one of the significant areas that reflect the cultural identity, lifestyle, and economic vibrancy of Chiang Mai. Participants will design sidewalk and landscape concepts to enhance the experience of using public spaces and create a new perspective on urban development that prioritizes people at its center.
