Mr. Adrian Miria, Ikano Centres, part of Ikano Retail, stated, “Since 14 years ago, we have seen the growth potential of Thailand and the opportunities in the Bangna area as a strategic location aligned with Ikano Group's vision to create opportunities for a better life for people. We believe this location has the potential to be more than just a retail destination; it is a place where people choose to spend quality time with family and friends, becoming part of everyone's daily life. Since its opening, Mega Bangna has welcomed over 670 million visitors, including a record high of 60 million visits in 2025, while maintaining a 100% occupancy rate continuously. This location is also home to the first IKEA store in Thailand, one of the largest in Southeast Asia, and has grown to become one of the leading retail and lifestyle destinations in ASEAN. What we are most proud of is not just the size of the project or its performance but the relationships and connections we have built with customers over the past 14 years.”

Mr. Phumi Jirathiwat, Head of Hotels and Alternative Investments at Central Pattana Public Company Limited, stated, “The expansion of Mega Bangna today marks an important milestone reflecting Central Pattana's vision of A Future-Led Ecosystem. Over the past 14 years, the first phase of Mega Bangna has created a continuous success phenomenon, and today, the development in the second phase will be more than just an expansion of the shopping center; it will be a strategic investment of 6 billion baht to support the future growth of the city and become a destination that connects lifestyle, business, and community together. In the future, Mega Bangna will be developed under the long-term mixed-use master plan on over 325 rai of land, and upon completion, it will have a total project area (GBA) of over 1.3 million square meters, with an estimated total project value of 70 billion baht. There will also be further developments of other components in the future, such as office buildings, hotels, and residential areas, to strengthen the project under the Mega City vision, aiming to become a significant destination in Eastern Bangkok and one of the important future urban development projects in Thailand, driving sustainable economic growth and improving the quality of life for people.”

Mr. Phumi further stated, “The 6 billion baht investment is scheduled to be completed in Q3 2028 to elevate Mega Bangna into a new destination that integrates retail space, public areas, services, and various amenities together. The extension project will add another 170,000 square meters of total project area (GBA), including an additional 1,750 parking spaces, making Mega Bangna one of the shopping centers with the most parking spaces in Bangkok, and it will have a total project area of over 800,000 square meters, or more than half of the long-term mixed-use development plan.”

At the same time, the Bangna area remains one of the fastest-growing areas in Bangkok, driven by increasing purchasing power, the expansion of modern affluent families, and changing lifestyle demands. Today's consumers are looking for experiences beyond shopping, including lifestyle, relaxation, and community building. This expansion project has been designed to meet these changing needs and support the future growth of Mega Bangna,” Mr. Phumi said.

The Growth of Modern Families

The expansion of Mega Bangna is driven by two key factors: the continuous growth potential of the Bangna area and changing consumer behavior. Families remain the primary customer base and the fastest-growing group at Mega Bangna. These changing demands are driving the need for new forms of retail, dining, wellness, and community spaces.
