Origin Partners with Britannia and World Vision Foundation to Sign Cooperation Agreement for Improving the Quality of Life and Health of Migrant Workers
Origin, in collaboration with Britannia, emphasizes the importance of social responsibility across all dimensions by joining forces with the World Vision Foundation of Thailand to develop the project “SAFER Work (Strengthening Accountability For Employing and Recruiting Migrant Workers in Thailand).” This initiative aims to enhance the quality of life, physical and mental health of migrant workers, women, and families in construction camps, while also conducting workshops with contractors and workers across construction sites in Bangkok, the surrounding areas, the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), and major cities like Phuket. This mission continues under the principles of corporate governance, committed to being a socially responsible organization.

Origin Property Public Company Limited and Brittania Public Company Limited have signed a cooperation agreement to support the operations concerning migrant workers under the project “SAFER Work (Strengthening Accountability For Employing and Recruiting Migrant Workers in Thailand)” with the World Vision Foundation of Thailand, led by Mr. Apisit Sunthornchukiat, CEO of Origin Vertical Corporation Limited (second from left), along with Mr. Nawin Leknawa, Co-CEO of Britannia Public Company Limited (far left), and Ms. Rosalin Gover, Director of the World Vision Foundation of Thailand (second from right). The signing took place at the Pirath Tower at BITEC. This cooperation aims to improve the quality of life for the underprivileged, disadvantaged, and those facing difficulties in society, focusing on the development of children, families, and communities for sustainable better living through creating learning opportunities, enhancing potential, and laying a solid foundation for the future of vulnerable children and disadvantaged individuals.

Additionally, this collaboration includes providing knowledge support to individuals, target groups, community leaders, and local residents to collectively address and solve urgent social issues affecting children and the underprivileged. It also involves coordinating with government and private sectors to drive various projects towards tangible results. The operations of the World Vision Foundation adhere to international human rights principles and are within the legal framework of Thailand. The partnership between Origin, Britannia, and the World Vision Foundation reflects a commitment to the issue of “business and human rights,” particularly concerning the rights of migrant workers, which is a significant concern in the business and construction sectors today. Mr. Apisit Sunthornchukiat, CEO of Origin Vertical Corporation Limited, stated that the company is committed to being a comprehensive real estate development company that grows sustainably under corporate governance principles, delivering quality products and services with a customer-centric approach, thinking beyond to give more for customers. To achieve this objective, the company will facilitate the location, target groups, and stakeholders to support the collection of data on migrant workers and their dependents working and residing in the project area, as well as allowing the collection of other necessary data for project development. The staff of the World Vision Foundation will be responsible for data collection, which will involve sending questionnaires or data collection tools for consideration before actual data collection, strictly adhering to personal data protection laws.

“The company has collaborated with contractors to conduct training activities to educate migrant workers on construction sites, covering issues related to labor rights, prevention of violence against women, and access to benefits and services they should receive, aiming to ensure that migrant workers and their families have knowledge, understanding, and can access appropriate protections. Additionally, it promotes participation through group activities, exchanges of opinions, and discussions. Currently, the company has construction sites in operation in Bangkok, the surrounding areas, and other provinces,” Mr. Apisit reiterated.
On the other hand, Mr. Nawin Leknawa, Co-CEO of Britannia Public Company Limited, stated that the company is committed to conducting business in accordance with good governance principles while developing sustainably for all stakeholders in economic, social, and environmental (ESG) dimensions. The company collaborates with the World Vision Foundation to implement the “SAFER Work” project, enhancing health and well-being for workers in construction areas to help address issues and provide assistance to migrant workers, especially female migrant workers and families working and residing in the construction industry. “The company is ready to cooperate and support the operations of the World Vision Foundation in all aspects, just as in previous collaborations, including facilitating and coordinating with affiliated contractors to participate in workshops and training on labor rights to create understanding about valuable and fair employment processes, as well as raising human rights standards in the construction sector to continue the mission under corporate governance and good governance principles,” Mr. Nawin stated. The company has prioritized the safety and quality of life of contractors and workers by developing safety, occupational health, and working environment manuals in compliance with relevant laws and standards to enhance work standards, safety in daily life, and create a sustainable good working environment, aiming for zero severe accidents.
Regarding Ms. Rosalin Gover, Director of the World Vision Foundation of Thailand, she expressed that the foundation is honored to sign the memorandum of cooperation to promote and elevate the standards of valuable employment in the construction business, aiming to create a sustainable employment system while balancing the interests of employers and employees in terms of quality of life, job security, and equal development opportunities. For workers, it is essential to receive appropriate income alongside access to rights and protections, good health, and quality of life, as well as the ability to support their families securely, which are fundamental needs for all workers. However, this remains a significant challenge, especially for migrant workers who live and work in countries that are not their homeland, making access to rights and social integration crucial.
Promoting these aspects cannot be achieved by any single agency alone but requires cooperation from all sectors, including government, private, and civil society, to collectively drive and create a suitable support system. The World Vision Foundation of Thailand has continuously worked with migrant worker groups and recognizes the various challenges they face. Therefore, this collaboration is considered another important step in creating better opportunities for migrant workers, who play a significant role in driving Thailand's economy and business sectors.” All three organizations believe that this collaboration will be a significant starting point in pushing the real estate and construction industries in Thailand to recognize and prioritize the rights of migrant workers more, while jointly creating business standards that consider human rights alongside sustainable social development in the long term.
