The event titled “Sook Siam Fun Songkran at My Home” is based on the concept “The Great Faith of the Mun River to the Blessed Land of the Chao Phraya River”, linking the stream of faith from the Mun River basin in Ubon Ratchathani to the Chao Phraya River basin, reflecting the value of preserving beautiful cultural heritage and valuable traditional customs. This initiative promotes the soft power of Thai identity in terms of traditional customs, Buddhist beliefs, and Thai cuisine, delivering a variety of joyful Thai experiences to tourists visiting Sook Siam, leaving a lasting impression of Thai ways and traditions during the Songkran festival, enhancing the creative economy, generating income, and creating a positive image for the country sustainably. The atmosphere of the opening ceremony for “Sook Siam Fun Songkran at My Home” under the concept “The Great Faith of the Mun River to the Blessed Land of the Chao Phraya River” linking the stream of faith from the Mun River basin in Ubon Ratchathani to the Chao Phraya River was honored by Ms. Chotika Akkharakitsopakul, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, who presided over the opening ceremony, along with Mr. Worapong Sukthiranantachai, Deputy Managing Director of Sook Siam Project, and partners welcoming guests. During the event, both Thai and foreign tourists will have the opportunity to experience and engage with the valuable Thai cultural traditions through various joyful Thai activities.

Paying Respect and Bathing the Sacred Luang Por Ngern Buddha Image, Over 700 Years Old

Sook Siam at Icon Siam has conducted a ceremony to invite Luang Por Ngern for the water bathing ritual, held during the merit-making event in the fifth month, which is a traditional custom of ancient Isan, indicating the exquisite faith in Buddhism of the local community. “Luang Por Ngern” is a silver Buddha image in the Mara Victory posture, a Chiang Saen art piece over 700 years old, revered as the “Buddha of Victory of Isan.” It was brought from Wat Pak Nam (Bung Sra Phang) in Ubon Ratchathani to Sook Siam, along with a procession around Sook Siam to bless partner shops and tourists before the installation of “Luang Por Ngern” at the Sukhusawan Sala Gate at Sook Siam, Icon Siam, G Floor, allowing the public and tourists to participate in bathing the Luang Por Ngern, paying respect and asking for blessings to welcome the Thai New Year festival, as well as bathing to ask for blessings from Phra Upakut and the Buddha of the day of birth from April 8 to April 15, 2026.

Additionally, Sook Siam at Icon Siam has collaborated with Water Festival 2026, the Water Way... Thai Way festival, Tha Wat community, the Marine Department, and private sectors to open the event along with a water procession of Buddha images during the “Water Way Thai Way Festival Year 11,” coordinating with the community to travel by boat to Tha Wat, five royal temples, to invite Buddha images to be bathed on Songkran day, including Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararm Rajwaramahavihara, Wat Arun Ratchawararam Rajwaramahavihara, Wat Kalayanamit Woramahavihara, Wat Rakhang Kositaram Woramahavihara, and Wat Prayurawongsawas Worawihara, and Sook Siam at Icon Siam on April 13, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
