This project aims to provide a unique experience that caters to high-quality tourists both domestically and internationally, enhancing the destination's status as a global tourist hotspot.
- Given the potential and rapid growth of Koh Samui, along with the expansion of high-quality service businesses, the development of Sheraton Samui Resort into a Marriott-branded hotel will enhance the capabilities of this high-potential beachfront hotel through international service standards and the Wonderful Hospitality concept, fostering stable and sustainable growth in the long term.
- The collaboration with Marriott International reflects AWC's strategy to develop destinations by leveraging the unique strengths and potential of each area while adhering to sustainable operational practices to meet the demands of the global quality tourism market.
Asset World Corporation Public Company Limited (AWC), a Thai real estate developer focused on comprehensive lifestyle solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Marriott International to enhance the tourism potential of two key seaside destinations in Thailand: Pattaya in Chonburi Province and Koh Samui in Surat Thani Province. The signing of the agreement to develop and manage a hotel under The Ritz-Carlton brand in Pattaya marks another significant milestone in the long-term strategic collaboration between AWC and Marriott International, reflecting both organizations' commitment to expanding Thailand's luxury hotel portfolio.
This signing is part of an ongoing strategic partnership, following the signing of The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok Riverside, a world-class landmark project that plays a crucial role in promoting and revitalizing the historic area of Long 1919 and Song Wat in 2022, strengthening Bangkok's position as a global luxury tourism destination, and the signing of The Ritz-Carlton Phuket Resort and Spa in 2023, which has set a new standard for the luxury service industry in Phuket. The projects under this collaboration reflect a solid strategic partnership between AWC and Marriott International, encompassing the development of the Aquatique project, AWC's flagship mega mixed-use project in Pattaya, with The Ritz-Carlton Pattaya hotel as a key highlight, alongside the repositioning of Sheraton Samui Resort into a Marriott hotel in Koh Samui.
This collaboration underscores AWC's commitment to developing destinations that play a vital role in Thailand's tourism industry, building on the strong fundamentals of each area, including international potential, readiness of the tourism ecosystem, and capacity to accommodate high-quality tourists, to drive the country's tourism industry in the long term and support Thailand's emergence as a global sustainable tourism destination.
Naowalapa Traisorat, CEO and Managing Director of Asset World Corporation Public Company Limited, stated: “Our ongoing collaboration with Marriott International emphasizes AWC's commitment to developing flagship projects in strategic locations through a development approach that prioritizes quality, sustainability, and the identity of each area. The Ritz-Carlton hotel project in Aquatique Pattaya will be a flagship luxury project that plays a significant role in enhancing Pattaya's potential as a primary tourism destination in Thailand. At the same time, the development of a Marriott-branded hotel in Koh Samui aligns with enhancing Koh Samui's potential as a high-quality international tourism destination.
Both projects reflect AWC's strategy to collaborate with Marriott International to create long-term value in economic, social, and environmental dimensions while strengthening Thailand's position as a global sustainable tourism destination.”
Brad Edman, Vice President for Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar at Marriott International, added: “The collaboration between Marriott International and AWC has continuously evolved into one of the key partnerships in Thailand's hotel and service industry, encompassing several hotels and our leading brands. Marriott's The Ritz-Carlton brand is committed to enhancing the guest experience in Thailand's most popular destinations, and the opening of this new hotel as part of the Aquatique project in Pattaya will help elevate the eastern coastline of Thailand to the highest standards of luxury and excellence internationally. Meanwhile, introducing the flagship Marriott Hotels brand to Koh Samui, one of Asia's key destinations, will fully meet the needs of quality travelers from around the world, including Marriott Bonvoy members. We are thrilled to partner with our esteemed ally, AWC, to bring these exciting projects to fruition.”
- Aquatique Pattaya: A flagship destination featuring The Ritz-Carlton hotel as the project's centerpiece
Aquatique reflects the strategy of developing world-class flagship projects in high-growth potential strategic locations under the Destination-led concept, focusing on creating long-term value. This project is developed in strategic collaboration with Marriott International, a globally recognized hotel business group known for its international standards and management expertise. Aquatique is a comprehensive mega mixed-use project under the concept of AWC’s Lifestyle Destination, integrating service, hotel, retail, and experiential tourism elements to create long-term value and support the tourism potential of Pattaya.
In terms of service and hotels, Aquatique features The Ritz-Carlton Pattaya, a flagship luxury hotel that is the heart of the project. The hotel is designed to create a luxury stay experience in Pattaya through meticulous design, excellence in service, and luxury relaxation experiences driven by experiential concepts, in line with The Ritz-Carlton brand identity.
The Ritz-Carlton Pattaya comprises over 224 rooms, with a total area of approximately 34,505 square meters, located on a beachfront site within the Aquatique project area, which spans approximately 27-2-75 rai. The project development will proceed according to the phased delivery plan of Aquatique.
Aquatique is designed under the AWC’s Lifestyle Destination concept, systematically integrating service, beachfront hotel, retail, and experiential tourism elements within the same project to support the long-term value creation of the destination while enhancing Pattaya's appeal as a tourist destination for both Thai and international visitors.
In addition to the hotel, the Aquatique project also includes:
• World-class beachfront retail project with over 110,000 square meters of rental space, developed as a lifestyle destination that integrates tourism, leisure, and experiential living along the entire beachfront of Pattaya.
• Large-scale international entertainment venue featuring a major water park managed by leading global partners, designed to attract both domestic and international tourists and support year-round travel demand for the project.
Aquatique is located in central Pattaya, within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) development area, supported by significant national infrastructure investment projects such as the high-speed rail connecting three airports, U-Tapao International Airport, and future rail networks, giving Aquatique the potential to grow into a global tourism and lifestyle destination. Additionally, the project is positioned to promote Pattaya's growth as a key tourism destination in the country, playing a vital role in supporting Thailand's emergence as a destination for experiential and sustainable tourism in the long term.
- Marriott Hotel Koh Samui: Repositioning to premium status to support the growth of quality tourism
Marriott Hotel Koh Samui reflects AWC's strategy to develop beachfront hotel properties in globally popular destinations to respond to the growth of the experiential tourism market in Koh Samui, one of the key destinations in southern Thailand that is rapidly expanding. The charm of Koh Samui continues to attract high-quality tourists consistently, with the project located at Chaweng Noi Beach, one of the island's most promising beachfront locations.
The hotel aims to offer a uniquely different relaxation experience through the delivery of Marriott's global brand standards, combined with the unique identity of Koh Samui and designs inspired by the sea, under the concept “Samui’s soul embraces the tides of the sea.” The project plans to develop beachfront villas with private pools, nature-linked pool views, health facilities inspired by the sea, and dining experiences that carefully narrate the stories of the ocean, along with a role as a premium wedding venue to cater to tourists seeking personalized experiences and premium relaxation.
Thus, the Marriott Hotel in Koh Samui is not just a development but a long-term strategy of AWC to drive high-quality tourism, create long-term sustainable value, and support Thailand as a global tourism destination.
The collaboration between AWC and Marriott International in developing the Aquatique project and Marriott Resort and Spa in Koh Samui represents AWC's commitment driven by quality, sustainability, and the unique potential of each destination through a development model that integrates global standards with local context. AWC aims to create long-term value for properties, destination cities, and strengthen Thailand's tourism industry.
“This collaboration reflects our intention to support the future of the hotel and service industry through the development of projects aimed at creating experiences that generate long-term value,” Naowalapa stated.
“By integrating local identity, sustainability concepts, and global service expertise, we aim to drive sustainable tourism in two key seaside destinations in Thailand.”
