SB Design Square Collaborates to Improve Ronald McDonald House at Children's Hospital, Enhancing Quality of Life for Young Patients and Their Families
SB Design Square continues its commitment to social responsibility by partnering with the Ronald McDonald House Foundation Thailand to renovate the Ronald McDonald House, or "Mac House," at the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health (Children's Hospital). This initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for families of young patients by providing a restful, supportive environment that fosters emotional recovery and quality time together during treatment.
Mr. Pidech Chavaldit, Executive Director of SB Furniture Group, stated that SB Design Square believes that sustainable business growth must create value for society. The involvement in improving the Mac House is a way to apply design expertise to enhance the living experience, creating spaces that uplift the spirits of families with young patients during their time of need. The design focuses on practical use, privacy, and long-term comfort to alleviate stress for families and support their physical and mental well-being, while also raising the standards of the shelter to align with holistic health-promoting living concepts.

Another key aspect of the renovation at the Mac House is prioritizing the health of users and indoor air quality. This is achieved by selecting furniture made from E1 standard wood, which is an international standard for controlling formaldehyde emissions from wood products. The furniture used has a low formaldehyde content of only 0.005%, helping to reduce chemical vapor in the building, resulting in a fresh atmosphere that minimizes odors, eye irritation, and skin discomfort, while also lowering the risk of allergies and respiratory issues, making it suitable for spaces with children, patients, and families who need to stay for extended periods.

"Throughout the years, SB Design Square has consistently prioritized selecting materials that are safe for users. The E1 wood standard is part of our design philosophy aimed at promoting health, which contributes to good indoor air quality and positively impacts the physical and mental recovery of residents in the long term. This aligns with the mission of the Ronald McDonald House, which was established to alleviate the burdens of families with young patients who travel long distances for treatment, providing 24-hour accommodation and meals for these families," Mr. Pidech added.

Currently, the Mac House operates in four hospitals: the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health (Children's Hospital), Nopparat Rajathanee Hospital, Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society, and Siriraj Hospital, having already supported over 34,000 families of young patients nationwide.
"SB Design Square is committed to being an organization that utilizes its expertise in comprehensive furniture design and development to benefit society at large. This project reflects our dedication to driving business growth alongside social and environmental responsibility, aiming to create a better quality of life and long-term sustainability," Mr. Pidech concluded.
