B PetroThai Celebrates Thai Environment Day, Introduces Smoke-Free Flare Technology to Support Industry's Move Towards Net Zero
B PetroThai Group, a leader in engineering services, celebrated Thai Environment Day on December 4 by introducing Enclosed Ground Flare (EGF) technology to help the Thai petroleum and petrochemical industries reduce their environmental impact and care for surrounding communities, while progressing towards Net Zero.

The flare system is a crucial technology used by the petroleum and petrochemical industries as a standard for safely disposing of waste gas or gas that cannot be utilized. It helps reduce the amount of hazardous chemicals released into the atmosphere, which could contribute to greenhouse gas emissions or pose health risks to nearby communities. This is one of the environmental management approaches aligned with international standards. However, the currently used Elevated Flare systems are tall structures, with flames and smoke visible at the top, causing concerns and disturbances from light pollution to surrounding communities.
The Enclosed Ground Flare (EGF) technology, installed by B PetroThai Group for its clients, is the latest innovation from John Zink, a global leader in combustion technology, addressing sustainable development. It features four main advantages: 100% smoke-free visibility, no flames emitted from the stack, no light pollution both day and night, and no noise disturbances, along with reduced vibrations during combustion.

These four features enable EGF technology to significantly reduce the environmental and community impacts of the petroleum and petrochemical industries, alleviating concerns about PM2.5 dust and driving efforts towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions, as well as aligning with each organization's sustainable development goals.

Mr. Tam Jamnongasa, Managing Partner of B PetroThai Group, stated, “For the past 45 years, B PetroThai Group has supported the development of Thailand's energy industry by sourcing efficient and innovative technologies to elevate the country's industries, in line with the company's commitment to being an innovation partner for Thailand's energy business. The adoption of EGF technology is another significant step for us to help the Thai energy industry develop sustainably in all dimensions, with responsibility towards the environment, communities, and society, while enhancing efficiency for sustainable business.”
B PetroThai Group, along with its partners, has been providing and presenting EGF equipment to leading petroleum and petrochemical companies in Thailand since 2017. Recently, it was installed at the LNG station Map Ta Phut 1 (LMPT1) in Rayong, operated by PTT LNG Co., Ltd., which has been completed and recently commenced operations.
Mr. Tam added that transitioning to EGF is essential for the petroleum and petrochemical industries due to environmental legal requirements and the urgency for all sectors to collaborate in mitigating or reducing the impacts of operations that could affect the environment and global warming. Although the transition to EGF may require time for study and preparation, it is crucial to expedite this process.
B PetroThai Group is fully prepared to assist the petroleum and petrochemical industries in transitioning towards sustainable energy. With over 45 years of accumulated experience and value engineering, the company can offer practical solutions within a reasonable and manageable budget. It has a team of knowledgeable engineers who can plan and implement EGF installations tailored to the needs or constraints of each project effectively, along with a comprehensive network of partners, including leading technology owners from abroad, experienced local contractors, and reliable suppliers, ensuring the delivery of solutions that meet all customer requirements and complete projects within the specified timeframe.
Additionally, B PetroThai Group has developed a special software called “boonma,” which is an engineering database system covering equipment management from the smallest components to the integration of all plant systems. This allows for tracking and monitoring the usage of equipment across the system, while customers can quickly access important information, enhancing convenience and operational efficiency.
Mr. Tam further stated, “B PetroThai Group places great importance on customer care as a partner because we recognize that continuous, safe, and efficient production is crucial for the energy industry, which is a key driver of the economy and enhances the country's competitiveness. We are ready to provide guidance and be a partner from feasibility studies to the complete installation of EGF, helping the Thai petroleum and petrochemical industries achieve their Net Zero goals in the future.”
