Launch of UAV Hangar: Advancing Thailand's Drone Industry into a Comprehensive Technology Hub at Global House, Salaya
Salaya, Nakhon Pathom - Global Tech Barn Co., Ltd., founded by Dr. Kitti Setthaworapan and Mr. Parkpol Keeratiwaradon, has developed a comprehensive UAV technology service platform under the trade name "UAV Hangar." The prototype store was launched at Global House in Salaya on August 29, 2025, with esteemed witnesses including Mr. Pongtep Thepkarnjana, Honorary Advisor of the World Drone Federation, Air Marshal Kittitas Phachareon, President of the World Drone Federation in Thailand, and Mr. Kriangkrai Suriyawanakul, Deputy CEO of Siam Global House Public Company Limited. They were joined by executives from partner companies, such as agricultural drone manufacturers, automotive and electronics parts producers, and hardware importers, along with representatives from government agencies including DEPA, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Royal Irrigation Department, local leaders, and VC investors.

Over the past decade, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) industry, commonly known as "drones," has emerged as a prominent new S-curve industry, rapidly transforming various sectors such as agriculture, real estate, digital media, logistics, and defense. Utilizing remote control systems, sensors, and real-time digital imaging, it has created over 200 applications, generating economic value in the hundreds of billions of baht.
In Thailand, drones have gained recognition and are widely used commercially in digital media, precision agriculture, and have expanded into traffic systems, security, resource surveying, and public utility inspections, all under the regulations of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

However, limitations such as high costs, scarce spare parts, and a lack of after-sales service points have caused hesitation among potential users.

The World UAV Federation, with over 40 branches worldwide including one in Thailand, has recognized the obstacles, opportunities, and potential for developing the UAV industry in Thailand. They have initiated efforts to nurture new tech entrepreneurs to create a platform that connects automotive and electronics parts manufacturers, inventors, software developers, and public policy experts to promote access to UAV technology within a seamless ecosystem that includes:
- Retail space for services
- Comprehensive training courses across all channels (Omni-channel Marketplace)
- Multi-brand one-stop service center
- Sustainable learning community

The launch of the UAV Hangar prototype store in modern trade is not only a first but also opens a new perspective on the “new world in the context of UAV technology” through a special lecture by Mr. Pongtep Thepkarnjana, who has connected Thailand to the global UAV technology development and manufacturing stage for over a decade as an honorary advisor to the World Drone Federation. He reflected on the application of UAV technology across various industries to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure safety, which is likely to become a fundamental tool for businesses in Thailand.

Creating an ecosystem conducive to production, distribution channels, pilot training courses, registration systems, and maintenance services is essential for the growth of drone users, similar to the success of the automotive industry in Thailand in the past.

Mr. Pongtep Thepkarnjana commented on the alignment with the mission of Siam Global House Public Company Limited, which has continuously supported opportunities for Thai people to showcase their potential in innovation, enhancing productivity, efficiency, and cost-saving for customers, partners, and the company.
Additionally, Mr. Kriangkrai Suriyawanakul emphasized the importance of innovation for Thai farmers, who are not only the economic backbone of the country but also key customers and employees' families. Therefore, there is a commitment to create spaces for farmers to access new knowledge and technologies, such as agricultural drones and artificial intelligence, while providing opportunities for Thai agricultural drone manufacturers to present products and services that meet local contexts through a multi-brand store via the UAV Hangar platform, furthering collaboration with partners in another dimension of Siam Global House Public Company Limited.
Another interesting aspect of the UAV Hangar platform is its primary business model goal, which is not just about drone sales but aims to create jobs and increase service users through the application of drone technology, such as plant health checks, solar panel inspections, building crack surveys, 3D mapping, large area patrols, and community security. This will be achieved with various types of drones and supplementary equipment, alongside specially developed artificial intelligence to deliver affordable solutions for everyone, with plans to expand service coverage nationwide in the future.
