The Dusit Thani Group is expanding the vision of the "Tree of Life" project, which is based on three core pillars: environmental care, community engagement, and social impact, to promote sustainable tourism in Chiang Rai. This follows their management of the Tantawan Tented Camp, a luxurious safari-style resort that harmoniously blends the charm of Lanna culture with a commitment to sustainability amidst the stunning natural beauty of the mountains in Chiang Rai. The resort reflects the concept of responsible tourism while creating value for guests, the community, and the surrounding environment.

Mr. Jill Kretaletch, Chief Operating Officer of Dusit Thani Public Company Limited, stated that one of the key aspects of the sustainability mission of this resort is close collaboration with the 'Tantawan Farm,' a residence for girls operated by the non-profit organization 'Friends of Thai Daughters,' which aims to provide education, safe housing, and psychological support for girls from high-risk ethnic groups in mountainous areas vulnerable to human trafficking.

Managing the Tantawan Tented Camp presents a great opportunity for us to convey the vision of the 'Tree of Life' project, which serves as a sustainability guideline for the Dusit Group, encompassing three core pillars: environmental care, community engagement, and social impact. We have 31 operational criteria linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In managing the Tantawan Tented Camp, we have implemented this concept in practice, from sourcing ingredients directly from farms to supporting education and training for girls. This demonstrates that sustainability and service can coexist harmoniously,” Mr. Jill added.

The Dusit Thani Group plans to promote and support girls from the Tantawan Farm to receive training from affiliated institutions, including Dusit Thani College and The Food School, as well as hands-on experience at the Tantawan Tented Camp and other hotels in the group, opening pathways to future careers in the service industry. This reflects the concept of the Tree of Life project, which aims to create a positive impact on the community, society, and environment through operations linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

In terms of food and environment, the resort features an organic farm where guests can closely experience activities such as exploring vegetable plots, harvesting fresh herbs, or collecting eggs from over 400 free-range chickens. Guests can enjoy meals at the outdoor restaurant “Seasons,” which offers popular Northern and international dishes using local ingredients like herbs, organic vegetables, and fruits to convey the authentic flavors of the region, alongside sustainable environmental practices.

The resort is located just 40 minutes from Mae Fah Luang International Airport in Chiang Rai and offers a tranquil boutique camp with 10 luxurious safari-style tents, ranging from family tents with two bedrooms to one-bedroom suites for couples. Each tent comes with a private bathroom, handcrafted teak furniture, and complete amenities, including a resort pool surrounded by palm trees and wildflowers, with stunning mountain views, and an outdoor screening area for movies under the stars accompanied by the sounds of nature and a cozy campfire.

Guests can choose from activities designed to connect deeply with nature and the community, such as hiking, cooking classes, tree planting, and meditation, to enrich their meaningful relaxation experience.

For adventure enthusiasts, activities such as archery, visiting hill tribe communities, and elephant conservation centers, or booking a private picnic “Forest and Field” filled with freshly baked bread, seasonal salads, imported cheeses, and freshly prepared dishes from the resort's kitchen are available. Guests can also enjoy playing pickleball at the two indoor courts at the Tantawan Farm.

For families, the resort offers a variety of creative activities that allow everyone to learn and have fun together, such as pottery making, glass painting, and creating “Tung,” colorful flags unique to Lanna culture used to decorate homes, temples, and various ceremonies, while learning the spiritual meanings of each design that symbolize good luck, protection, and prosperity.

The Tantawan Tented Camp will strengthen the management portfolio under the client's brand in Thailand, which includes the Army Recovery and Recreation Center at Suan Son Pradipat, Green Lake Resort in Chiang Mai, and Chai Narai Riverside Hotel in Chiang Rai. Each accommodation benefits from international service standards and the operational expertise of the Dusit Thani Group while maintaining its unique identity and harmonious connection with the local community.
