V-ZUG, the leading ultra-luxury home appliance brand from Switzerland, reaffirms its mission of innovation for sustainability through the “V-ZUG Thailand Sustainability Talk” held at V-ZUG Studio Bangkok under the theme “Form, Function & Flavor: Cross-Industry Perspectives on Sustainability in Architecture, Interior Design, Lifestyle, and Culinary Arts.” This panel discussion gathered top experts from the fields of architecture, interior design, and culinary arts in Thailand to exchange opinions and experiences on sustainable design and environmentally conscious living.

The discussion featured V-ZUG executives, including Angeline Yap, Managing Director of V-ZUG for Singapore and Southeast Asia; Chef Tam Chutaree Thepakham, V-ZUG's brand ambassador and owner of the two-Michelin-star restaurant Baan Thepa; and distinguished speakers Kulthida Songkittipakdee, Director of Public Relations from the Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage (ASA), architect and co-founder of Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS Design and Research; and Saiwipa Pattanapongpipat, board member of the Thailand Interior Designers Association (TIDA), interior designer and founder of P49 Deesign & Associate.

The discussion focused on practical aspects of sustainability in real life, from energy-efficient architecture and the adaptive reuse of historic spaces to specially designed appliances for environmentally conscious living. This trend of reuse is increasingly popular in design and project development in Thailand, where traditional buildings are being adapted for modern use, preserving cultural heritage while reducing environmental impact.

Angeline Yap, Managing Director of V-ZUG for Singapore and Southeast Asia, stated, “For over a century, V-ZUG has been committed to creating innovative appliances driven by precision, combining Swiss craftsmanship with sustainable excellence. Sustainability for us is not just a trend but a core value that guides every decision we make. We view sustainability holistically, balancing the planet, people, and profit. In Thailand, we see a growing awareness of sustainability among designers, chefs, and homeowners who embrace sustainable practices in their work and lives, and we are proud to support this change through innovation, collaboration, and inspiring responsibility for a more sustainable lifestyle.”

As a brand rooted in Swiss craftsmanship and precision, certified with the prestigious “Swiss Made” label, V-ZUG integrates sustainability into every dimension of its value chain, from developing resource-efficient appliances and selecting environmentally friendly raw materials to maintaining strict ethical standards throughout its global supply chain. Additionally, the company promotes a circular business model and employee well-being, making sustainability a part of everyday decision-making.

Environmental policies and climate practices are key components of V-ZUG's long-term mission. The company aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, being the first home appliance brand to achieve 100% carbon neutrality in production processes since 2020, in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) guidelines. This has been supported by strategic investments in environmentally friendly energy, energy-efficient buildings, and the transition to electric vehicles in all offices and factories. The CO₂ fund to reduce carbon emissions within the organization has received financial support through tax benefits, and the company also supports environmental projects that yield results without profit motives to offset residual emissions from operations since 2020 through the “V-Forest” project to restore forests in Scotland. Meanwhile, V-ZUG is aiming to reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030 and has submitted a request for climate target verification under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to comply with Switzerland's climate risk disclosure regulations. The company also reports climate-related risks according to the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework.

In 2024, V-ZUG conducted an analysis of key sustainability issues impacting its business, assessing both positive and negative impacts on business and stakeholders according to the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), identifying 15 key issues such as energy-efficient innovation, biodiversity, and circular product design. This initiative ensures the brand maintains its leadership position in the transition to sustainability, not only in Switzerland but also expanding into growing markets like Thailand.
“At V-ZUG, sustainability is woven into every fiber of our identity, from our Swiss design and production philosophy to our responsible sourcing of raw materials and using nature as the heart of environmental solutions. For V-ZUG, investment means long-term planning, transparent operations, and a vision committed to sustainable development. Through various initiatives like V-Forest, the CO₂ fund within the organization, circular design, and repurposing existing materials, we are proving that luxury and sustainability can coexist harmoniously. For V-ZUG, we are not only reducing impact but also creating balanced sustainable value for the planet, people, and profit,” Angeline added.

This panel discussion reflects V-ZUG's intention to collaborate with designers, architects, and chefs who are passionate about sustainable innovation, aiming to shape the future of ultra-luxury home appliances that not only elevate daily living but also take environmental stewardship seriously.
