Dusit Thani Group has announced another global achievement as the "Dusit Thani Kyoto" hotel creates a new phenomenon by becoming the first and only Thai hotel in Japan to be selected as one of the hotels awarded the prestigious "Michelin Key" from the Michelin Guide 2024, reinforcing its status as a luxury oasis in the heart of Japan's ancient capital.

Mr. Jill Kretaletch, Chief Operating Officer of Dusit Thani Public Company Limited, revealed that Dusit Thani Group and Dusit Thani Kyoto Hotel are immensely honored to be among the hotels awarded a Michelin Key for outstanding service quality and exceptional experiences provided to all guests. Dusit Thani Kyoto is the first and only Thai hotel in Japan to receive this award, a testament to the dedication of the hotel team and Dusit Thani Group's unwavering commitment to exceeding guest expectations in every aspect.

The Michelin Key award is a special symbol granted to hotels that offer an excellent stay experience, categorized into three levels similar to the Michelin Guide's food awards, with keys ranging from 1 to 3. Hotels must meet five quality assessment criteria: outstanding interior design and architecture, quality and consistency of service, comfort and maintenance, a unique identity reflecting distinct personality, excellence in delivering value experiences that exceed the price paid, and being a destination in itself that enhances the local experience.

Currently, hotels in France, Italy, Spain, and some in the United States have received Michelin Keys. Japan is the first country in Asia to receive this award, and Dusit Thani Kyoto is the only Thai hotel among 85 hotels in Japan to be awarded a Michelin Key, also being the first hotel in the Dusit chain to receive this recognition.

Dusit Thani Kyoto Hotel opened in September 2023, located in the tranquil Hanganji Monzen-machi area of Kyoto, just 850 meters from Kyoto Station. It features a design that blends Kyoto's rich heritage with Thai architecture, inspired by Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand known for its culture, evident in the pagoda patterns throughout the hotel and the meticulously decorated 147 guest rooms that offer a perfect balance of timeless elegance and contemporary charm.

The hotel is set in a serene and beautiful atmosphere, serving as an oasis for both business and leisure travelers. In addition to luxurious event spaces accommodating up to 240 guests, it features the unique Tevaraj Wellness Center, where therapists offer a blend of traditional Thai massage and unique Japanese rituals. There are also extensive health facilities, including a fully equipped gym and an indoor swimming pool.

Another factor contributing to Dusit Thani Kyoto's Michelin Key award is its diverse and distinctive dining experiences. Guests can enjoy a special omakase meal at Kōyō, where chefs use premium fresh ingredients to celebrate the 'special seasons' of Kyoto's 24 micro-seasons. For those seeking a luxurious post-dinner experience, Den Kyoto bar offers an immediate response with its beautiful decor and signature cocktails.

Meanwhile, Ayatana, another restaurant in the hotel, is ready to create a unique experience, offering fine dining Thai cuisine through a multi-sensory approach inspired by the diverse cultures of both Thailand and Japan. Chefs Bo Duangporn and Dylan Jones, a husband-and-wife duo recognized in the global culinary scene, conceptualize and create the menu for this restaurant, ensuring quality from the award-winning Bo.Ian restaurant.

This hotel also elevates the dining experience through Dusit Thani Group's commitment to supporting local producers and initiating various projects in Kyoto, such as collaborating with TeaRoom Inc., a sustainable tea producer, to establish the Dusit Tea Garden in Wazuka, a city in southern Kyoto, to produce organic tea for use in the hotel's restaurants and guest rooms. Additionally, Dusit has partnered with OHARA FARMY to support the development of organic farming and sustainable land use, creating Dusit Farm, a large organic farm just 20 minutes by car from Kyoto. Besides growing vegetables for the hotel's restaurants, this farm will also serve as a venue for memorable and valuable activities for guests, such as self-harvesting experiences.

"The Michelin Key award received by Dusit Thani Kyoto is a testament to the newly revamped Dusit brand and our commitment to maintaining high standards, similar to Dusit Thani Bangkok, which is set to reopen on September 27, 2024, along with other Dusit hotels worldwide. We hope to continue achieving success in other Dusit destinations in the future," the Chief Operating Officer of Dusit Thani Public Company Limited stated.

Currently, Dusit Thani Group has a total of 298 hotels and resorts in its portfolio across 18 countries worldwide, comprising 57 Dusit hotels and resorts and 241 luxury villas under the Elite Havens brand, a leading luxury villa rental service in Asia that Dusit acquired in September 2018. More than 60 Dusit hotels and resorts are currently under development.
