The rapid and severe climate change crisis has led the world to enter the era of “Global Boiling.” It must be acknowledged that the construction industry is a significant contributor to carbon dioxide emissions from production processes.

CPAC is a leading producer of ready-mixed concrete and precast concrete in Thailand, dedicated to developing products with environmentally friendly innovations and services. We recognize the impact of these issues and see them as a priority. With the intention to contribute to reducing the impacts of PM 2.5 dust and greenhouse gas emissions as much as possible, we operate under 'SCG Cement and Green Solutions,' which has a green product policy aimed at developing environmentally friendly innovations. Thus, we are launching a new brand transformation with “CPAC Low Carbon,” a low-carbon concrete that can help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by at least 25 kilograms per cubic meter, equivalent to planting 2.5 trees (when comparing SCG low-carbon structural cement mixed with fly ash to Portland cement type 1). This reinforces our commitment to true Green Construction.

For over 70 years, CPAC has been committed to creating a green society throughout the value chain, from green production processes to green products and green construction. This will help elevate the Thai construction industry to grow sustainably. The new brand transformation is another key mechanism to drive towards achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, as targeted. In this challenge, CPAC is not only focused on developing low-carbon concrete products but also pays attention to every detail, such as using labels on concrete mixer trucks, like printing with HP-Latex ink, which contains up to 65% water, and using non-PVC coated stickers and films from 3M made from plant-based materials like corn, which are biodegradable. Additionally, we prioritize the delivery process according to the green transport concept (Green Fleet) by introducing electric mixer trucks for concrete delivery. Compared to diesel-powered trucks, this can reduce PM 2.5 and PM 10 dust by 45 grams per delivery trip and decrease greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) of carbon dioxide (CO2) by up to 26.5 tons/year/truck, equivalent to planting an additional 2,800 trees/year/truck, all to reduce pollution for surrounding communities.

For CPAC Low Carbon, this low-carbon concrete not only helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions, which is part of combating global warming, but also excels in meeting the needs of various applications, whether it’s “CPAC Coastal Concrete” and “CPAC Marine Concrete” for the southern, eastern, and western regions focusing on structural protection near the coastline, or “CPAC Super Salt-Resistant Concrete” for the northeastern region with saline soil, which can effectively resist chloride and sulfate penetration accumulated underground. It has been certified by three environmental labels, including:

1) SCG Green Choice - an environmental product label according to SCG standards that emphasizes energy savings, climate resilience, resource conservation, extended product lifespan (circularity), and promoting well-being.

2) Carbon Footprint Reduction of Product Label - a label indicating the greenhouse gas emissions of the product according to specified criteria, valid for three years. The low-carbon concrete has been certified for compressive strength ranging from 180-650 ksc (kilograms/square centimeter).

3) Carbon Footprint Reduction Label - a label showing the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions of the product according to specified criteria, comparing the carbon footprint of the product in the current year with the baseline year. The low-carbon concrete has been certified for compressive strength ranging from 180-650 ksc (kilograms/square centimeter) (except for compressive strength 600 ksc).

The goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050 is not just an internal mission but requires collaboration with partners to drive sustainability and innovate solutions that effectively protect the environment. This is another significant step for CPAC to elevate the standards of the construction industry in Thailand, delivering true value to all sectors.

With the launch of CPAC Low Carbon, this low-carbon concrete marks a brand transformation and reinforces our position as the ‘1st Mover Low Carbon Concrete’ under the concept of CPAC Reinvented with Care for the World.
