The Nova Symposium “The Net-zero Carbon Transition”
Advancing knowledge to reduce carbon emissions, EEC Academy- ASHRAE Thailand is organizing an international seminar for Thai construction operators.
EEC Academy has partnered with ASHRAE Thailand to host the international seminar The Nova Symposium 2024 on “The Net-zero Carbon Transition” from July 10-12, 2024, to enhance knowledge on carbon emission reduction for Thai construction operators.

Dr. Kesha Teerakomen, Chairman of EEC Engineering Network Co., Ltd., as an expert in the construction engineering field, shared insights on the construction business in 2024. The real estate market this year is considered sluggish, with many real estate operators facing market and purchasing power issues. Additionally, the government's mega-project investments have slowed down, causing several projects to stall, including the high-speed rail project and the new city development in the eastern region, as well as U-Tapao Airport. This has resulted in the construction market value for 2024 being significantly lower than expected by several hundred billion baht.
For construction trends in 2024, they will align with the United Nations COP27 – COP28 meetings, reflecting the government's stance of Thailand aiming for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2065 and increasing the share of renewable energy in electricity generation by 2050.

It is not just one country that needs to reduce carbon; the whole world must collaborate. This has led to the emergence of Green Finance, where developed countries will provide financial support to developing countries to promote carbon reduction investments, which will benefit Thailand. Furthermore, Thailand must prepare to enhance its green energy capabilities, as foreign investors from countries like China, Japan, Taiwan, and others will have Global Policy conditions requiring Thailand's energy sources to be green to reduce carbon emissions. If Thailand lacks sufficient green energy, investors will seek alternative investment locations.
Another significant trend is that construction materials must not only reduce carbon emissions, but energy use in buildings must also minimize carbon output. This trend has led to a phenomenon of moving from high-carbon-emission buildings to low-carbon-emission buildings, such as the ONE BANGKOK project, which is a low-carbon building where many offices are relocating.

As the world moves towards a Low Carbon Society, EEC Academy, an agency under EEC Group, a leading engineering design and consulting firm, recognizes the importance of this issue. Therefore, they are collaborating with ASHRAE Thailand, the organization that sets standards for air conditioning, ventilation systems, and energy use globally, to organize the international seminar The Nova Symposium 2024 on “The Net-zero Carbon Transition.”

Dr. Kesha mentioned that the international seminar The Nova Symposium 2024 follows the success of the Nova Build Expo 2023. EEC Academy, as an organization knowledgeable in the construction business and aware of future construction trends, must adapt to the Net-zero Carbon initiative. The event will take place from July 10 to 12, where participants will have the opportunity to listen to discussions from experts and visit booths showcasing products and innovations related to carbon reduction.
