Pruksa, in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, is continuing its initiative to organize the "Turn Off the Lights for 1 Hour to Combat Global Warming" event for the 6th consecutive year, inviting Thais to join people around the world in turning off unnecessary lights for 1 hour on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. We are also committed to reducing global warming throughout the year through energy conservation activities, increasing green spaces, and waste management, aiming to be a leader in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and providing a "good and happy" living environment.

Ms. Angkana Likitjarnyakul, Deputy Managing Director of Corporate Marketing at Pruksa Holding Public Company Limited, stated that everyone can contribute to reducing global warming, and one simple way to do this is by turning off unused lights. Pruksa, as an organization that prioritizes environmental care, collaborates with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Thailand to organize the "Turn Off the Lights for 1 Hour to Combat Global Warming" or 60+ Earth Hour 2023, which will take place alongside over 190 countries and 7,000 cities worldwide. We invite everyone to turn off unnecessary lights for 1 hour on the last Saturday of March from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM local time. This year in Thailand, it falls on March 25, aiming to reduce energy consumption and foster a collective awareness to address and mitigate the causes leading to future crises from global warming.

"We have always prioritized caring for the world and the environment, which is why we have continuously participated in the "Turn Off the Lights for 1 Hour to Combat Global Warming" event. In 2022, we found that turning off the lights for just 1 hour could reduce electricity consumption by up to 78 megawatts and decrease carbon dioxide emissions, a major contributor to global warming, by 20 tons. This outcome is encouraging, and we hope to amplify this collaborative effort even more this year," Ms. Angkana said.

In addition to the "Turn Off the Lights for 1 Hour to Combat Global Warming" event, Pruksa has also signed a declaration of intent to reduce global warming throughout the year since 2022 and continues this year. This is done through energy conservation activities, increasing green spaces in projects, and proper waste management. Last year, we achieved satisfactory results, with measurable outcomes from all activities, such as installing solar energy systems that helped reduce electricity consumption by over 837,000 kWh, increasing green spaces in townhouses, single houses, and condominiums by over 385,000 square meters, and managing waste from construction sites and residential projects properly, totaling over 153 tons. Overall, last year, Pruksa was able to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 854 tons CO2 equivalent.

"We are committed to delivering a living environment that is 'good and happy' while continuously working on environmental initiatives. In 2023, we plan to introduce innovations that help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, such as building energy-efficient homes, using sensors for smart home devices, and developing our affiliated hospitals to be low-carbon hospitals. We have a roadmap to lead by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050, in line with the goals of Thailand and the international community," Ms. Angkana concluded.
