Supalai Unveils Business Knowledge to Propel the Construction Industry with Circular Economy and Low Carbon Concepts
The Circular Economy in Construction Industry (CECI) group, consisting of Supalai Public Company Limited and leading real estate developers, held a major seminar at the National Engineering Conference 2022 to exchange knowledge on the direction of developing environmentally friendly housing and buildings, marking a new decade for the construction industry in line with the Net Zero Carbon goal.

Mr. Kittipong Sirilaktrakul, Deputy Managing Director of High-Rise Building Construction at Supalai Public Company Limited, revealed that the company is committed to sustainable real estate development while contributing to social and environmental progress. The mission is to create and develop innovative products and services for excellent performance, considering the benefits of stakeholders. In 2022, the company set a goal to reduce its carbon footprint by 25% within three years, leading to various projects aimed at achieving this goal. For instance, collaborating with business partner SCG to develop SCG Green Choice construction materials that are environmentally friendly and reduce carbon dioxide emissions from production processes, as well as innovations in housing and condominiums that promote a green society. This includes designing energy-efficient homes that harness natural ventilation and sunlight, minimizing reliance on electrical appliances. Continuing with the SOLAR PLUS project in partnership with Kasikorn Bank, the company provides free solar roof panels to residents, helping to reduce electricity bills and return clean energy to the planet, along with plans to install EV chargers at projects nationwide to lessen environmental impacts.

Additionally, the company continues its Waste Management project to minimize construction waste generated during production. This includes selecting pipes cut to the exact lengths needed, reducing the size of concrete strength test cubes while maintaining the same efficiency, and replacing wooden pallets used for transporting lightweight bricks with plastic pallets that have a longer lifespan, reducing the use of wooden pallets by over 18,000 pieces. The use of dust-free lightweight brick cutting machines and dust-collecting wall sanding machines has increased waste segregation on construction sites to as many as nine types of waste. Recently, the company has designed condominiums to manage rainwater effectively by creating larger retention basins, which can better reduce runoff from projects to roads and public areas, alleviating the burden of pumping water from flooded roads and public spaces.
Supalai Public Company Limited and the CECI group hope that following this seminar, the construction industry will become more aware of the efficient use of resources in the future, particularly in reducing carbon dioxide emissions and expanding the concept of a circular economy across the industry, paving the way for a new decade in construction.
