Central Chanthaburi: Behind the Design Reflecting the Identity of Chanthaburi Perfectly, More Than Just a Shopping Center, But a New Wonder of the City
When mentioning Chanthaburi province, many people think of durians, fruit sources, and the country's gem trading hub. However, the truth is that Chanthaburi has much more to offer. It is a charming city with a distinctive local identity, featuring natural attractions such as the sea, mountains, mangrove forests, art, culture, and the timeless charm of the riverside community. Handicrafts from local wisdom, such as the famous Chanthaburi mat woven from reeds, known as the highest quality mat in the country, and gemstone craftsmanship by local artisans renowned worldwide, add to the city's allure. Another charming aspect that enhances the city's appeal is the idea of using “Rabbit and Moon” as the city's symbol, which can be seen everywhere throughout the province. Anyone who has visited Chanthaburi is sure to fall in love with its unique charm.

Central Pattana recognizes the potential of the province and views Chanthaburi as a “Hidden Gem” of the eastern region waiting to be polished. Thus, they have developed the “Central Chanthaburi” project to be the largest and best mixed-use project in the east, a new landmark that reflects the identity and showcases the charm of Chanthaburi comprehensively. Under the concept of “Charming Chanthaburi”, Central Chanthaburi is a large mixed-use project covering over 40 rai, consisting of a shopping center, hotel, condominium, and convention hall for various events. It features a large green park of 4 rai, serving as the new public park of the province.

The advantage of this project is its prime location in the city, adjacent to the Phakdi Raip Canal. With a view of the mountains and sky, it enhances the beauty of the project. Central Pattana has designed the shopping center in a semi-outdoor format, seamlessly connecting the buildings with the surrounding nature, creating a spacious and relaxing atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy natural breezes and experience the weather outside.

Architecture Reflecting the Identity of Chanthaburi Perfectly
The design and decoration of both the exterior and interior draw inspiration from various identities of Chanthaburi. Starting from the façade of the shopping center, which is designed based on the patterns of fruit peels, and the building walls inspired by mat patterns, blending with the sparkle of Chanthaburi's gemstones. There are playful hidden lights in the walls to illuminate the project at night.
The interior is designed to resemble the riverside community houses of Chanthaburi, using a design technique that gives a half-concrete, half-wood feel while maintaining a spacious, airy, and modern look. The flooring features tiles that appear to have been traditionally fired, combined with galvanized materials for decoration. The restrooms evoke the feel of community homes, and the food patio incorporates Chanthaburi mat patterns into the tile design, creating an interesting mat-like appearance. Importantly, the Food Patio has outdoor dining areas where visitors can enjoy the breeze and scenic views of nature, mountains, and trees, connecting to the “Plearn Park,” the green space of the project.
The ‘Plearn Park’ zone, a large park over 4 rai, is designed as a multi-purpose area catering to people of all ages and lifestyles, including children, working adults, families, pet owners, seniors, and fitness enthusiasts. It features a 400-meter running track, bike parking, a skating area, basketball court, exercise equipment, playground, and pet-friendly spaces, making it a public park for everyone. The design challenge was to maximize the efficiency of this space while ensuring smooth connectivity between different areas, harmoniously blending with the surrounding nature.
Additionally, there are highlights designed to reflect various identities of Chanthaburi, serving as must-visit photo spots in the city:
1) Ruin Chanthaburi - A resting spot with million-dollar views of the river and mountains, featuring a design that showcases the classic charm of the locality.
2) Chanthaburi Viewpoint - Inspired by childhood treehouses, this spot offers a 360-degree view of the Phakdi Raip Canal from the top, with a café selling beverages below, centered around a tree.
3) Chanthaburi House - A co-working space with a café and resting areas designed in the shape of local fruits, with playful rabbits hiding around the pillars, enhancing the fun atmosphere. 4) Art Feature Rabbit - Adorable rabbit sculptures symbolizing Chanthaburi in various poses, located in the amphitheater area designed in tiers. This spot serves as a gathering point for everyone, suitable for outdoor music events, exercise activities, or even movie screenings in the park, connecting conveniently to the playground for families and the food patio.

5) Jan-In Square - A resting area featuring the province's iconic Jan-In tree and fruits like sapodilla, mangosteen, and durian for decoration, along with organic products for shopping. This area connects to the pet zone (Woof Club) and the bike parking and running track outside the project.
All of this reflects Central Pattana's genuine intention to elevate Chanthaburi comprehensively, enhancing the economy, tourism, creating opportunities, generating jobs, distributing income to the community, and fostering local pride. By collaborating with the local community, they aim to enhance the province's charm in various forms, promote local products in the shopping center, celebrate local arts and culture, and instill a sense of love for their hometown. This initiative allows those who had to work in other provinces to return to their hometown, as many opportunities await them. Central Pattana stands as a model organization in conducting business that genuinely considers the local community in every dimension, marking another success in their project development that creates wonders for the province, living up to the concept of “The Wonder of Chanthaburi.”
