The chairperson of the Global Summit of Women 2022 and the Thai organizing committee announced the readiness for the event at Icon Siam. Thailand has the honor of hosting the 32nd conference, which is a great opportunity to showcase the country's readiness and potential for international meetings and its status as a 'World Destination' following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 'Global Summit of Women 2022' will take place from June 23-25, 2022, at the Centara Grand Hotel and Bangkok Convention Centre in Bangkok, under the theme: 'Women: Creating Opportunities in the New Reality.' Representatives of women leaders from both the public and private sectors worldwide will attend, providing an excellent opportunity to demonstrate Thailand's readiness and potential as a 'World Destination' for international meetings and tourism. Originally, Thailand was set to host the conference in 2020, but it was postponed to 2022 due to the pandemic.

Ms. Irene Natividad, chair of the Global Summit of Women 2022, stated that Thailand, besides being a beautiful country with an interesting history, places great importance on promoting the role of women in business and the economy at both regional and global levels.

“As the chair of the organizing committee, I am very pleased to hold the event in Thailand. We expect women leaders from the public sector and senior executives from multinational companies, both women and men, from around the world to attend. The focus of this summit will be on driving the economy after facing the pandemic crisis, which has been a significant catalyst for various changes, especially in technology and new innovations that have been adapted to create change and growth for businesses through e-commerce, where women play a significant role. Currently, leaders from around the world, including South Africa, Vietnam, France, Spain, Mexico, Germany, and Kazakhstan, have confirmed their participation. These executives are excited to attend the first international conference in two years after all countries faced the impacts of COVID-19,”

The chair of the Global Summit of Women emphasized that this summit will be a platform to promote equality between women and men in driving the economy and creating new opportunities after facing the pandemic crisis. It will also help promote international cooperation networks and share experiences, inspiring women to engage in business in the post-COVID era, whether as employees, business owners, consumers, or investors. She reiterated that women will be a crucial force in revitalizing the economy, as over the past decade, women have increasingly contributed to the continuous growth of the global economy.

Ms. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, former Minister of Tourism and Sports and chair of the Thai organizing committee, expressed that the committee is honored and pleased that Thailand will host this significant international women's leadership event, reaffirming the country's readiness to organize a conference that will impress attendees. This not only enhances Thailand's positive image but also reinforces confidence in the country's economy.

“The 2022 Women's Leadership Summit will instill confidence in Thailand's economy, which continues to focus on ongoing economic development and promoting new investments. I believe this conference will empower women, foster cooperation among all sectors, and create a new generation to revitalize the economy and build a better world. The content throughout the three days of the conference will showcase future business opportunities and create a network to promote collaborative economic advancement,”

Ms. Kobkarn also assured that strict measures will be in place to control the spread of the coronavirus during this conference. She added that the event will be special as it will be organized in an environmentally friendly manner, 'Carbon Neutral.' There will be an assessment of greenhouse gas emissions from various activities during the conference, including electricity usage, travel of participants, catering, and waste management. Additionally, activities that reduce greenhouse gas emissions will be supported through carbon offset initiatives by purchasing carbon credits from greenhouse gas reduction projects in Thailand. The conference will also showcase local community products from across Thailand to create opportunities for local communities to develop into international entrepreneurs.

Mr. Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), discussed the country's readiness to welcome women leaders for this international conference and foreign tourists.

“This global conference in Thailand is a significant step in building international confidence that Thailand is well-prepared to welcome tourists after experiencing a slowdown in tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is also an opportunity to create an impressive travel experience for the women leaders attending the Global Summit of Women 2022. This year, TAT has designated it as 'Visit Thailand Year 2022: Amazing New Chapters,' as women play a crucial role in driving the economy due to their increasing earning potential and being a high-potential market segment in tourism, as they are confident and decisive in their travel choices,”

Mr. Siripakorn is confident that the Global Summit of Women will be successful due to the collaboration of various Thai agencies and organizations that are working together to showcase Thailand's potential in tourism and readiness to accommodate investments, which will help enhance Thailand's image as a Preferred Destination and a World Destination.

Ms. Nichapa Yosweer, Deputy Director of the Office of Promotion for Meetings and Exhibitions, expressed gratitude to the organizing committee for recognizing Thailand's potential as a platform for conveying important social issues at the international level, demonstrating the country's capability and readiness to host international meetings.

“The Global Women's Leadership Summit is an international convention that supports the roles and rights of women from women leaders on a global stage, inspiring the global community to recognize the importance of Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusiveness, which aligns with Thailand's 12th National Economic and Social Development Plan. Furthermore, the conference will feature top women leaders from 60 countries worldwide, reinforcing Thailand's capability to host World Class meetings, and it is expected that this event will generate approximately 80 million baht in revenue for the country,”

Ms. Nichapa stated that despite the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 on Thailand, the MICE industry has still managed to generate over 33 billion baht in income distribution within the country and create over 46,000 jobs in the labor market. This year, there are still many international conferences scheduled to take place in Thailand, including the APEC Leaders' Summit 2022.

The Global Summit of Women is a significant global platform connecting businesspeople, professionals, and executives from the public, private, and social sectors worldwide, creating networks of cooperation and sharing experiences to expand business opportunities and promote sustainable economic development. This year, the conference emphasizes the role of women in recovering the economy from the impacts of COVID-19, which has led to changes in various aspects, including lifestyle, business operations, and the importance of technology and innovation in this significant transformation. Nevertheless, the conference continues to promote equality between women and men in business operations and economic advancement, which has been the core message of the conference for the past 30 years.
