The New Queen Sirikit National Convention Center: Over 80% Complete, Set to Become Asia's Premier Event Platform, Opening Countdown in September 2022 for APEC 2022

Frasers Property (Thailand) Public Company Limited, or “FPT,” has been entrusted by NCC Management and Development Co., Ltd., or “NCC,” to develop the concept and manage the construction of the new Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) to international standards, aiming to establish it as a world-class event destination in Asia, with the goal of becoming The Ultimate Inspiring World Class Event Platform for All.
Currently, the project is over 80% complete, giving FPT confidence that it will be finished and ready to hand over to NCC by early September. The center is set to welcome a multitude of events lined up from its opening month and continuing throughout the year, aiming to impress representatives from around the world attending “APEC 2022,” for which the Sirikit Center has been chosen as the venue for this global meeting.

Mr. Thanapol Sirithanachai, Chief Executive Officer of Frasers Property (Thailand) Public Company Limited, stated: “FPT is proud to be involved in the development of the new Sirikit Center, which represents Thailand's image in welcoming visitors from around the world. Our team has applied expertise and experience in project development to manage and control quality at every stage, from design to construction, ensuring that all aspects meet their goals smoothly. The building structure is now complete, and we are in the final phase of development, gradually decorating the space according to the concept of 'Preserve, Maintain, and Enhance' to reflect Thailand's unique culture to the international audience. We are confident that with proactive management and careful planning, we will overcome all challenges and time constraints, delivering a project that meets international quality standards on schedule in early September 2022.”

To elevate the QSNCC to become The Ultimate Inspiring World Class Event Platform for All, the project design has been modernized and elegantly reflects Thai identity. The center is designed to accommodate all types of meetings and events, equipped with various functionalities and modern technology to enhance the experience for event organizers and attendees.
The new Sirikit Center has a total usable area of 300,000 square meters, with 78,500 square meters dedicated to event space. The building features modern engineering and construction highlights, utilizing Sliding Super Truss technology for steel structure installation that can support significant weight, allowing for a spacious and flexible event area without support columns, facilitating logistics and the movement of various exhibits. It can host multiple meetings and exhibitions simultaneously, with a total of 50,000 square meters of large hall space, two large seminar rooms totaling approximately 10,000 square meters, and 50 smaller meeting rooms. Additionally, it is equipped with comprehensive facilities and utilities suitable for all types of meetings and events, enhanced with future-proof connectivity technology (5G) to support seamless operations in the web 3.0 era.
To enhance the quality and standards of Thailand's convention centers, the Sirikit Center prioritizes safety, quality of life, and environmental standards. It has implemented smart systems to control access to various areas and manage utilities within the building, focusing on security efficiency and energy savings. Furthermore, the Sirikit Center aims to achieve LEED Silver certification for green buildings.

Regarding the location of the Sirikit Center, its central city position makes it easily accessible from various routes, which has led to its selection as a venue for significant meetings. To further facilitate event organizers and users, the parking capacity has been increased by more than five times, accommodating up to 3,000 vehicles. Additionally, a direct connection to the MRT subway has been established for convenient access to the building.
“FPT believes that the grand reopening of the Sirikit Center will redefine a new chapter in the service industry, with QSNCC's potential equipped with the best technology and meeting infrastructure according to international standards. The project also includes retail space under the concept of Bangkok Active Lifestyle Mall (BALM), which will become a new destination for urban dwellers, catering to both conference attendees and the demands of the surrounding community and city workers,” Mr. Thanapol concluded.
Currently, the retail space BALM is in the process of closing deals with leading brands, with over 40% progress. For leading brands interested in being part of this lifestyle space in Bangkok, further inquiries can be made at [email protected] or contact 02 229 3111.
