ZOLL MEDICAL, a leader in medical equipment with innovative software solutions enhancing emergency care and lifesaving from the United States, is launching three models of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in the Thai market. The brand is recognized globally and trusted by medical professionals and emergency care experts. The AEDs feature Real CPR Help® technology, providing high-quality CPR guidance to rescuers, along with FDA/PMA standards from the United States. The market is expected to demand at least 10,000 units following the Interior Ministry's regulation mandating high-rise buildings and public facilities to install AEDs, effective from December 2, 2021.

Mr. Nakorn Pornnathwutikul, Country Manager of ZOLL Medical (Thailand) Co., Ltd., stated, "With the Interior Ministry's announcement requiring high-rise buildings* and special large buildings** to provide space for installing Automated External Defibrillators (AED), published in the Royal Gazette on June 4, 2021, and effective 180 days post-announcement, starting December 2, 2021, this elevates emergency assistance for victims or patients in buildings, ensuring greater safety for users, especially those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. In Thailand, over 54,000 people die annually (an average of 6 per hour). Installing AEDs in easily accessible locations within buildings can significantly reduce mortality rates from such conditions."

ZOLL MEDICAL, as a leader in developing equipment and software solutions for enhancing emergency care and lifesaving from the United States, supports this policy by introducing three models of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) tailored for various building types. The focus is on the brand's global expertise in developing lifesaving equipment and software for over 40 years, along with the Real CPR Help®*** function that allows rescuers to assist patients in real-time, providing immediate feedback on compression rate and depth to increase the survival chances of patients experiencing sudden cardiac arrest through high-quality CPR.

The ZOLL AED models marketed in Thailand include:

• AED Plus: A basic AED that withstands various environmental conditions and features automatic self-testing capabilities. It provides real-time CPR guidance with visual and audio alerts in Thai, suitable for adults but can be equipped with pediatric electrode pads. Ideal for locations with limited AED needs, such as restaurants, gyms, and sports venues. The AED Plus comes with a 5-year warranty.

• AED 3: Features a quick touchscreen interface and configuration activation without external devices or software. It supports CPR alerts in Thai, Chinese, and English. In addition to Real CPR Help®, it can connect via Wi-Fi to share data and link with other AEDs. Suitable for projects or high-rise buildings with multiple AEDs, such as schools, universities, communities, and airports. The electrode pads included with AED 3 cater to both children and adults, with a 6-year warranty.

• AED Powerheart G5: Designed for both experienced and inexperienced rescuers, this AED model features advanced technology for ease of use and the Intellisense™ CPR (ICPR) function, providing real-time bilingual information to rescuers. It enables high-quality CPR to save lives during sudden cardiac arrest, with a 7-year warranty.

All three ZOLL AED products have received premarket approval (PMA) and certification from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). For more information on ZOLL AEDs suitable for public buildings, visit https://www.zoll.com/products/aeds/aeds-for-public-access or call 02-275-5501.

“Currently, there are over 30,000 AEDs installed in Thailand, which is still low compared to other countries. This new regulation will promote wider installation. As public buildings enhance safety measures, it will increase survival rates (Higher Survivor Rate). The main considerations when purchasing an AED should include global certification, effective functionality, and good after-sales service, especially equipment warranty. The three ZOLL models are designed for ease of use and quality, evident in their innovative technology and software solutions, which ZOLL is committed to delivering for enhanced emergency care and patient safety,” Mr. Nakorn concluded.

* High-rise buildings (Ministry Regulation No. 33) are defined as buildings that can be occupied or used by individuals with a height of 23 meters or more.
** Special large buildings (Ministry Regulation No. 33) are defined as buildings constructed for residential or business purposes, with a total area of 10,000 square meters or more across all floors or any single floor in the same building.
*** Real CPR Help® uses accelerometer technology and sensors within the ZOLL CPR electrode pads to measure the rate and depth of compressions. When the pads are placed on the patient, the rescuer will press on the marked sensor area for hand placement. The data is sent to the AED, which processes and displays real-time feedback to the rescuer via screen and audio prompts, such as "Push harder," "Good compression depth," or "Start CPR" when necessary. This audio-visual feedback helps rescuers perform high-quality CPR, which is crucial for the patient's survival chances.
