Rajavithi Hospital, in collaboration with The Forestias by MQDC, has launched a lung X-ray point for COVID-19 patients under the "Stay Home, Safe Lungs" initiative for patients in home isolation in the southern Bangkok and Samut Prakan areas.

As the public health system encourages more COVID-19 patients to opt for home isolation, Rajavithi Hospital, through the Narenthorn Emergency Center, has established a space for "Rapid X-Ray: Lung X-Ray to Survive COVID" under the "Stay Home, Safe Lungs" project to assist COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms (green and light yellow categories) who meet the criteria for lung examination, enabling quicker access to treatment.

This latest lung X-ray point is located at The Forestias by MQDC and is expected to serve patients in southern Bangkok and Samut Prakan, including areas such as Watthana, Bangkorlaem, Suan Luang, Pathum Wan, Phra Khanong, Bang Rak, Sathorn, Yan Nawa, Khlong Toei, Bang Na, and Samut Prakan province in Muang Samut Prakan, Bang Phli, Bang Bo, and Bang Sao Thong districts. It officially opened on September 4, and appointments can be made in advance via Line: @rapidxray; walk-ins are not accepted.

Dr. Pairoj Kheuakarn, Deputy Medical Director of Rajavithi Hospital, expressed gratitude on behalf of the patients for the efforts of various organizations in supporting this initiative. Currently, Rajavithi Hospital has three X-ray points: Narenthorn Krungthon Nuea, Narenthorn Krungthon East, and Narenthorn Krungthon South. An additional three points will be added: Narenthorn Krungthon South, Narenthorn Krungthon North, and Narenthorn Krungthon Central, bringing the total to six points expected to be fully operational by mid-September. The latest point, Narenthorn Krungthon South, is the third location situated on vacant land of The Forestias by MQDC.

"The treatment approach using the principle of Rapid X-Ray for lung X-rays to help COVID patients in the green and light yellow categories, who are relatively healthy (able to perform daily activities without severe symptoms such as mild cough or low-grade fever), allows them to receive lung X-rays periodically during the 14 days from the onset of COVID-19 and receive prompt analysis of the X-ray results for appropriate treatment or management,"

Mr. Kittiphan Uiyamapan, Senior Director of The Forestias by MQDC, stated, "The Forestias by MQDC is pleased to be part of this initiative by providing a one-rai area for Rajavithi Hospital to establish the "Rapid X-Ray: Lung X-Ray to Survive COVID" project under the "Stay Home, Safe Lungs" initiative, located at Bangna Kilometer 7. The area is well-ventilated and open, and we have supported the space and construction by setting up a center for patients to register and wait for their X-ray. Additionally, we have separated patient areas from staff working areas, and the staff's workspace has been designed as a positive pressure room for their safety.

Moreover, we have recruited volunteers to assist in the area and provided food from the "Sharing Happiness" project of the Light of Heart Field Hospital for the staff. The Narenthorn Emergency Center at Rajavithi Hospital has received cooperation from medical personnel from various agencies and civil society to enhance access to lung X-rays and expedite accurate treatment. A system for patient registration and queue management for lung X-rays has been established to ensure timely and appropriate care based on symptoms, including transportation arrangements for patients.

The special feature of this X-ray point is that since MQDC is a partner in establishing the Light of Heart Field Hospital adjacent to this X-ray point, if patients wish to transition from home isolation to treatment at the Light of Heart Field Hospital, they can do so with coordination from the field hospital. If patients experience worsening symptoms and the X-ray results indicate a higher severity (yellow category or above), they can receive treatment at Princ Suvarnabhumi Hospital, which founded the Light of Heart Field Hospital in collaboration with MQDC and five other organizations: T&B Media Global, EEC Engineering Network, Thanin Tevi Chiaravanont Foundation, Ariyawararom Foundation, and Phuttharaksa Foundation.

Rajavithi Hospital will have a total of six X-ray points in Bangkok, including Krungthon South, Krungthon North, Krungthon East, Krungthon Central, and Krungthon South, all located on vacant land of The Forestias by MQDC. Mobile X-ray machines have been set up with careful consideration for safe, clear, and organized work zones from various agencies and site managers, with cooperation from the Radio Volunteer team, consisting of volunteers from the Royal College of Radiologists of Thailand, along with a top-notch digital platform from J.F. Advanced Med Co., Ltd., and a radiology reporting system focused on management by Rama Co-Rads, which has successfully managed inmates with COVID-19. This will help eligible patients, such as those with test results and the duration of illness, as well as symptom severity, access lung X-rays to identify the risk of lung infection, leading to quicker access to various systems and medications.

All management processes are designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during patient examinations, with planned teams for patient transport from their residences and service locations adhering to public health safety guidelines. Facilities for patient X-ray examinations include parking areas, registration points, X-ray entry points, waiting areas for results, and medication pickup points for those found to have lung infections, with an estimated area of approximately 700 square meters, ideally in an open space. Some preparations may be necessary to accommodate rainy weather during the rainy season from August to October each year.

This project is supported by the Rajavithi Hospital Foundation and Rajavithi Hospital, aiming to operate six Mobile X-Ray vehicles (working at least 8 hours a day) / 30 patients per hour, serving no less than 43,000 patients per month.
