KUN Public Company Limited has teamed up with ALT Telecom to launch a Solar Rooftop project within KUN's housing development, marking the first real estate project in the Bang Bua Thong area, "KUN Prime," consisting of 40 units. This initiative aims to reduce electricity costs for customers by an average of 1,500 baht per month, with installation expected to be completed by Q4/2021. The goal is to install Solar Rooftops in at least 50-60% of all housing projects over the next 2-3 years (2021-2023).

Ms. Prawirat Tevaakson, CEO of KUN Public Company Limited, a leader in the development of residential real estate, particularly in the peripheral areas of Nonthaburi, revealed that the company has partnered with ALT Telecom Public Company Limited to install solar power systems on the rooftops of its housing projects. The initial pilot project will be at KUN Prime in Bang Bua Thong, Nonthaburi, with 40 units planned. The project is expected to be completed by Q4/2021, making it the first low-rise real estate project in the Bang Bua Thong area to feature solar power systems.

The objective of installing the Solar Rooftop is to promote environmental friendliness, ensuring that all housing projects developed by KUN utilize clean energy. It is acknowledged that consumer trends are increasingly leaning towards environmentally friendly electricity usage. Therefore, the Solar Rooftop not only benefits the environment but also helps save costs, reduces electricity expenses, and allows homeowners to sell excess electricity back to the government, generating additional income.

Moreover, this initiative is expected to enhance property values in the long term, preparing for a transition to smart homes in the digital age, which are energy-efficient, utilize clean energy, and support the upcoming use of electric vehicles.

It is believed that once installed, the Solar Rooftops will help reduce electricity costs for customers in the project by an average of 1,500 baht per month, which is particularly relevant given the current COVID-19 pandemic situation that has led to increased work-from-home arrangements and higher electricity bills. However, should the situation return to normal, homeowners will be able to apply for permission to sell excess electricity back to the government, as the necessary licenses have already been obtained.

“I personally see this collaboration between KUN and ALT as a strategic partnership that enhances both companies listed on the stock exchange. ALT has the potential to lead in providing infrastructure services for digital businesses and renewable energy, with a subsidiary distributing solar panels in Thailand under the brand "Q CELLS," a leading global solar panel manufacturer using German technology. Additionally, ALT offers a One Stop Repair Service Center, further demonstrating its reliability and professionalism,” she stated.

Looking ahead, the company aims to install Solar Rooftops in every housing project developed by KUN, with a target of 50-60% of all projects featuring solar panels within the next 2-3 years (2021-2023).

Ms. Priyapan Phuwakul, Deputy Managing Director of ALT Telecom Public Company Limited, discussed the collaboration with KUN in installing solar rooftops for housing developments, marking ALT's pilot project in this area.

The installation of solar panels is particularly suitable for those who spend most of their daytime at home, especially during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has significantly altered lifestyle habits, leading to increased work-from-home arrangements and higher daytime electricity usage. The installation of solar panels, which harness clean energy from sunlight, will greatly reduce monthly electricity costs.

ALT will manage the entire installation process as a One Stop Service, handling all communications with the electricity authority and relevant government agencies, as well as providing after-sales service. In the future, if homeowners have excess electricity after installation, ALT will also facilitate their ability to sell electricity back to the grid.

“In this solar panel installation project for KUN's housing developments, ALT emphasizes the use of world-class quality products, selecting Q-CELLs solar panels, a Tier 1 brand, and inverters from Huawei. For after-sales service, we guarantee maintenance and repair for free for up to 2 years, a 12-year warranty on the panels, and a 25-year performance guarantee on electricity production from the panels,” Ms. Priyapan stated.
