Nippon Paint continues the Asia Young Designer Awards 2021, aiming to inspire new designers to become professional designers for society. Submissions are open under the theme FORWARD: Amplifying Empathy Through Design until November 11.
Nippon Paint Decorative Coating (Thailand) Co., Ltd. is moving forward to inspire new designers by continuing the prestigious design competition, Asia Young Designer Awards 2021. They invite students from architecture and interior design disciplines to create innovative designs that reflect an understanding and care for people, communities, and the environment, while addressing social and cultural challenges. Participants will compete for a total prize value of over 100,000 Baht and the opportunity to represent Thailand at the international level in the Asia Young Designer Summit 2022 alongside winners from 16 other countries. The international winner will have the chance to participate in the special Design Discovery Program at Harvard's Graduate School of Design in the United States for six weeks at no cost.
This year's competition theme, “FORWARD: Amplifying Empathy Through Design”, emphasizes the importance of creating designs through a thoughtful process that deeply understands user issues. It encourages designers to identify user needs, necessities, and problems to present design solutions that integrate innovation and technology, ultimately enhancing quality of life and addressing users' physical, mental, emotional, environmental, social, cultural, and economic needs.

This aligns with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Furthermore, the Asia Young Designer Awards serves as a network for fostering good relationships among international designers. The winning students from Thailand in the architecture and interior design categories will represent the country in the competition for the Asian winner and participate in activities with winners from 16 other countries in Asia during the Asia Young Designer Summit, which rotates among host countries. Activities include workshops, professional presentations, and lectures by renowned architects and interior designers who will share knowledge and experiences, inspiring and advising students on their work.
