Macroeconomic Policy Bureau Weekly Regional Economic Report as of August 13, 2021
The Macroeconomic Policy Bureau (MPB) has released the Weekly Regional Economic Report as of August 13, 2021, as follows:
(1) The number of newly registered passenger cars in July 2021 decreased by -17.7%
(2) The number of newly registered motorcycles in July 2021 also decreased by -17.7%
Durable goods consumption, as reflected by the number of newly registered passenger cars in July 2021, has declined in several regions. However, there was growth in the Central and Northeastern regions, while the number of newly registered motorcycles decreased across all regions.
- The number of newly registered passenger cars in July 2021 was 31,841 units, a decrease of -17.7% year-on-year (but when adjusted for seasonal effects, it shows a decline of -26.5% month-on-month seasonally adjusted). Details include:
1) The Central region grew by 13.0% year-on-year from the previous month, which had grown by 20.7% year-on-year, with the highest growth rates in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Lopburi, and Sing Buri.
2) The Northeastern region grew by 5.4% year-on-year from the previous month, which had grown by 19.7% year-on-year, with continued growth in Udon Thani, Nakhon Phanom, and Chaiyaphum.
3) The Southern region decreased by -0.5% year-on-year from the previous month, which had grown by 40.6% year-on-year, with the highest growth rates in Chumphon, Satun, and Nakhon Si Thammarat. -
The number of newly registered motorcycles in July 2021 was 126,809 units, a decrease of -24.5% year-on-year (but when adjusted for seasonal effects, it shows a decline of -16.4% month-on-month seasonally adjusted). Details include:
1) The Eastern region decreased by -0.2% year-on-year from the previous month, which had grown by 40.5% year-on-year, with the highest growth rates in Prachinburi, Trat, and Chanthaburi.
2) The Western region decreased by -8.8% year-on-year from the previous month, which had grown by 19.8% year-on-year, with the highest growth rates in Samut Songkhram, Ratchaburi, and Phetchaburi.
3) The Northeastern region decreased by -12.9% year-on-year from the previous month, which had grown by 21.4% year-on-year, with the highest growth rates in Nakhon Ratchasima, Kalasin, and Mukdahan.
