As a token of appreciation and encouragement for the dedication of medical and public health personnel who are on the front lines caring for COVID-19 patients, as well as those working at vaccination centers, the Government Housing Bank has allocated 8 billion baht for the "My Hero: Medical and Public Health Personnel" project. This initiative reduces the loan interest rate from the current rate to just 1.00% per year for a duration of 4 months (September - December 2021), effectively lowering monthly payments by approximately 50% to ease the financial burden on medical and public health personnel.

Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, Managing Director of the Government Housing Bank (GHB), revealed that GHB, as a state financial institution with the mission of "providing homes for Thai people," has prepared a budget of 8 billion baht for the "My Hero: Medical and Public Health Personnel" project to support medical and public health personnel in their duties by reducing the loan interest rate to 1.00% per year from the current rates they are using for a period of 4 months, from September 1 to December 31, 2021. This will immediately reduce their housing costs or monthly payments.

For example, in the case of a loan amount of 3 million baht with a 40-year repayment period, if the original interest rate is MRR - 2% per year (currently, GHB's MRR rate is 6.150% per year), the monthly payment would be 14,800 baht. When the interest rate is reduced to 1.00% under this project, the monthly payment will drop to just 7,600 baht, which is more than a 50% reduction from the original payment. The new payments made by customers will cover both principal and interest, and if they pay more than the new monthly payment set by the bank, the excess will be applied to reduce the principal as well.

Eligible participants in the project must be current customers of GHB who are medical professionals or public health personnel working on the front lines caring for COVID-19 patients, including those working at vaccination centers, and must have a normal account status.

Interested individuals can register online to participate in the project to reduce the risk of COVID-19 through the Mobile Application: GHB ALL, GHB Buddy on the Line Application, and the GHB website www.ghbank.co.th from August 9 to 29, 2021, along with documentation to prove their work related to caring for COVID-19 patients, including identification cards and certificates of employment from their organizations.

After the 4-month assistance period ends, customers will revert to the loan interest rate according to the original project they had chosen before participating in this initiative, without any overdue interest owed to the bank.
