Intergeneration Project Model
Intergeneration Project Model
1. THE INTERLACE Singapore
This is one of the largest residential development projects in Singapore. The complex consists of 24 floors located in District 4 of Singapore, featuring 1,040 residential units. The architects (OLE&OMA) drew inspiration from Singapore's traditional villages.
The development includes 31 buildings, each six stories high, arranged in a hexagonal pattern to create eight large courtyards that connect, resembling a "vertical village". It features rooftop gardens and tiered terraces.
The Interlace is designed to attract multi-generational families (Intergeneration), with 1 in 8 of the units accommodating elderly residents (Aging in Place). These units are equipped to support residents effectively, such as having accessible bathrooms with level flooring that is wheelchair-friendly. The public areas in Interlace follow universal design principles, allowing residents of all ages to access and enjoy the project's amenities... both Kampong Admiralty and Interlace serve as exemplary models for housing for all ages.

2. KAMPUNG ADMIRALTY
The senior housing project, Kampung (Kampong), is a Malay term meaning simple dwelling, commonly used in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. Kampung Admiralty can be understood as a simple home in the Admiralty area. It is a mixed-use building developed by the Singapore government as the first retirement village (First Retirement Village) and the first official senior housing project. This building is part of a S$3 billion project aimed at enabling seniors to live in their original neighborhoods (Age in Place) alongside their descendants. The ground floor features an Active Aging Club with activities to stimulate the elderly's minds, and a Child Care Centre covering the 7th floor. The 6th floor includes a rooftop garden, playground, and function hall. The architect (WOHA) has paid attention to even the smallest details, such as concealing drainage pipes with greenery. The project is located in the northern part of the island, within a traditional residential community.
