One Bangkok is the largest integrated real estate project in Thailand, with an investment value of over 120 billion baht. It has partnered with SCG to sign a memorandum of understanding for sustainable construction management based on the principles of the Circular Economy. This includes recycling leftover concrete from the cutting of pile heads to produce precast walls for use in the project, as well as developing a comprehensive waste and pollution management plan for the construction project.

Mr. Panot Sirivadhanabhakdi, CEO of Frasers Property Limited, the developer of the “One Bangkok” project, stated, “As One Bangkok is a masterpiece project that sets a new standard in design, quality, sustainability, and balanced living in Thailand, we have carefully selected strategic partners who are recognized leaders in the industry for their potential, expertise, quality, and outstanding reliability. We are very pleased to collaborate with SCG once again, under our shared vision of creating value through sustainable construction practices based on the Circular Economy.”

This collaboration with SCG ensures that we can sustainably manage construction waste and be socially and environmentally responsible throughout the development and operation of the One Bangkok project, aligning with Frasers Property Limited's commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, as part of our sustainability goals that drive our business by integrating environmentally and socially friendly practices throughout the entire value chain, from investment to design, development, and operation, focusing on carbon reduction, efficient energy use, and innovative problem-solving methods.

Mr. Nithi Patarachok, Managing Director of SCG's Cement and Construction Products Business, said, “With the growth of the construction industry today, the amount of waste materials from construction is on the rise. SCG, as a manufacturer and distributor of construction materials, recognizes this issue and has applied the Circular Economy concept in developing innovative products and services. We have created a new mix formula for producing precast concrete slabs from leftover concrete sourced from the One Bangkok project, adding value to waste materials, and collaborating on a comprehensive construction waste management plan.”

SCG, TCC Assets (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and Frasers Property Holdings (Thailand) Co., Ltd. have been long-term business partners. We are very pleased to collaborate on this project to enhance the business operations of both organizations, which have a clear commitment and goal for sustainable development: to use resources efficiently, reduce environmental impacts, and elevate the construction industry in line with the country's future growth.

The recycling process of construction waste in the One Bangkok project employs the Circular Economy concept for management, in collaboration with CPAC Smart Structure and CPAC Construction Solution under SCG. This involves using technology to crush pile heads suitable for reuse in the production of precast concrete slabs from CPAC Smart Structure's factory, distributed through SCG Distribution for use in building facades and walls in the One Bangkok project.

This sustainable waste management plan aims to reduce waste and dust from construction by reusing construction materials, establishing methods for future dismantling, and selecting construction products and materials that generate less waste. This approach also reduces labor resource use, minimizes on-site concrete waste, and decreases dust generated from construction, resulting in a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by up to 5.94 tons, equivalent to the oxygen production of 540 trees.

Another environmentally conscious collaboration is the development of a comprehensive waste and pollution management plan for the construction project, where One Bangkok has partnered with SCG, with CPAC Construction Solution and Core Recycle Co., Ltd. overseeing the systematic sorting of various waste types, including construction waste, hazardous waste, and food waste. Utilizing real-time data display technology allows stakeholders to track the amount of waste generated daily to manage the construction site towards achieving a zero-waste goal.

The collaboration between the One Bangkok project and SCG also aims to address the issues of surplus and low-value resources arising from the expansion of the construction industry and the management of leftover materials from building construction, which poses significant challenges in today's world. The operational approach from this collaboration will help elevate the construction industry towards greater sustainability and advance along the path of the Circular Economy.
