Fiscal Policy Office Weekly Economic Situation Report for the Region as of June 11, 2021
The Fiscal Policy Office reports the regional economic situation as of June 11, 2021, as follows:
(1) The number of newly registered passenger cars grew by 43.4%, with growth observed in all regions, particularly in the South, Bangkok and its vicinity, and the North.
(2) The number of newly registered motorcycles increased by 41.1%, with growth seen across all regions.
Durable goods consumption, as reflected by the number of newly registered passenger cars in May 2021, showed strong growth, especially in the South, Bangkok and its vicinity, and the North, while the number of newly registered motorcycles also grew in all regions.

The number of newly registered passenger cars in May 2021 was 51,549 units, representing a growth of 43.4% year-on-year (however, when seasonally adjusted, the growth is 1.71% month-on-month). Details include:
1) The South grew by 55.0% year-on-year from the previous month, which grew by 11.1% year-on-year, with Krabi, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Chumphon showing the highest growth rates.
2) Bangkok and its vicinity grew by 49.4% year-on-year from the previous month, which contracted by -5.9% year-on-year, with growth still observed in Samut Prakan, Nakhon Pathom, and Bangkok.
3) The North grew by 47.9% year-on-year from the previous month, which grew by 13.9% year-on-year, with Phetchabun, Phayao, and Lampang showing the highest growth rates.
The number of newly registered motorcycles in May 2021 was 154,369 units, representing a growth of 41.1% year-on-year (however, when seasonally adjusted, it contracted by -18.36% month-on-month). Details include:
1) The South grew by 51.8% year-on-year from the previous month, which grew by 66.0% year-on-year, with Yala, Phatthalung, and Nakhon Si Thammarat showing the highest growth rates.
2) The North grew by 50.8% year-on-year from the previous month, which grew by 62.9% year-on-year, with Mae Hong Son, Sukhothai, and Phetchabun showing the highest growth rates.
3) The East grew by 48.4% year-on-year from the previous month, which grew by 39.9% year-on-year, with Prachinburi, Rayong, and Trat showing the highest growth rates.
