A survey of over 700 high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) revealed that nearly three-quarters of respondents either own or are looking to invest in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies before the end of 2022.

The survey conducted by financial advisory firm Devere found that 73% of respondents are bullish on cryptocurrencies, up from 68% in 2019.

Participants were individuals with incomes exceeding £1 million, equivalent to approximately $1.32 million. They were selected from various regions including the United States, the United Kingdom, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Australia, and Latin America.

Nigel Green, CEO and founder of DeVere Group, stated in the survey that Bitcoin has once again been one of the best-performing assets this year, increasing by 125% compared to last year.

“The survey shows that this impressive performance is attracting the attention of wealthy investors who increasingly understand that cryptocurrencies are the future of money, and they do not want to be left behind.”

Green noted that respondents interested in Bitcoin include some of the largest banks on Wall Street and referenced the strong sentiment towards adoption by major companies like PayPal and Square:

“There is no doubt that many HNWIs have seen that a key driver of the price surge is the increasing interest expressed by institutional investors capitalizing on the high returns that the digital asset class currently offers.”

Recently, Jamie Dimon, Chairman and CEO of JPMorgan Chase, stated that he is a “believer” in blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies “that are properly supported and regulated.”

Billionaire hedge fund manager Ray Dalio remains skeptical about Bitcoin but questioned his own doubts on Tuesday, suggesting that Bitcoin may not serve as a store of value and that governments might view it as illegal, making it too dangerous to use. He also mentioned that he cannot envision central banks, multinational corporations, and large institutional investors adopting it.
