Check Joe Biden's 'Health and Finances' Before Taking Office Next Year
As Joe Biden is set to become the oldest president in U.S. history at the age of 77, it is undeniable that his health may pose a challenge during his four-year term as the nation's leader.
Financial matters are equally of interest, as many are eager to know the wealth of the 46th president of the United States before he officially takes office on January 20, 2021. Tonkit360 has compiled information regarding both the health and finances of Joe Biden.
Health
In 1988, Biden underwent two brain surgeries due to aneurysms on both sides, nearly losing his life. His family even invited a priest to the hospital to prepare for last rites.
However, according to a health report released late last year, Biden is considered a healthy senior citizen. Dr. Kevin O'Connor, who conducted the examination, confirmed that he is fit to serve as president.
During the health check, Biden, who is 181 cm tall and weighs 80 kg, had a body mass index (BMI) of 24.38 and a blood pressure reading of 128/84. He is known for taking good care of his health; he neither smokes nor drinks alcohol and exercises five times a week.
As for whether his health will allow him to serve two terms as president or until the age of 85, a report from the American Federation for Aging Research indicates that Biden is healthy enough to potentially serve a full first term, with a 79% chance of living to complete it and a 70% chance of living to finish two terms, even though Biden has stated he intends to serve only one term.
Finances
Although Biden is often referred to as 'Middle-Class Joe,' his actual financial status is more akin to that of a 'millionaire.' Since leaving his vice-presidential role during Barack Obama's presidency, Biden has earned substantial income from book deals and speaking engagements.
According to financial documents from 2019, Biden and his wife Jill reported an income exceeding $15 million, approximately 465 million baht!
In the same year, Forbes magazine reported that Biden's assets included two mansions in Delaware valued at $4 million (124 million baht), cash, and investments totaling another $4 million (124 million baht), along with a pension exceeding $1 million (31 million baht).
Additionally, Biden's first book, 'Promise Me, Dad,' written in memory of his late son Beau Biden, became a bestseller in 2017, and he and his wife have published two more books since then.
Biden also earned an additional $540,000 (16.74 million baht) from his role as a professor and as the owner of The Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement at the University of Pennsylvania. His wife has also earned at least $700,000 (21.7 million baht) from speaking engagements.
For just his speaking engagements, teaching, or public addresses, Biden reportedly charges $100,000 (3.1 million baht) per event, with some fees reaching as high as $190,000 (5.89 million baht)!
