The "Home Building and Materials Expo 2020" exceeded expectations, with Worawut Kanjanakul revealing that during the 4-day event, sales surpassed the target, reaching over 2.8 billion baht, an increase of 5%. This reflects a growing business landscape, as consumers continue to seek opportunities to build homes on their land. Homes priced at 5.29 million baht were the most popular among buyers. The market value for home building this year is projected to be 12.5 billion baht.

Mr. Worawut Kanjanakul, President of the Home Builder Association (HBA), shared the results of the Home Building and Materials Expo 2020, held from October 1-4, 2020, at Impact Muang Thong Thani. Over the 4 days, the total bookings or sales reached 2.8 billion baht, marking a 5% increase compared to the Home Building and Materials Expo 2019, which took place from August 29 to September 1, 2019. The response from consumers was very positive, indicating a continued demand for housing and home building with leading professional home building companies that have diverse experiences and excellent quality. The association's event successfully addressed consumer needs by bringing together over 30 home building companies, offering more than 1,000 house designs for consumers to choose from, ensuring confidence in building homes with member companies. Additionally, the event featured partners showcasing innovative construction materials, attracting significant interest from potential home builders. It is anticipated that by the end of 2020, the home building business market will reach a total value of 12.5 billion baht.

The price range of homes that consumers showed interest in varied widely, with the lowest priced home at 1.03 million baht and the highest at 312 million baht. Homes priced at 5.29 million baht were the most popular among buyers. The total sales of over 2.8 billion baht can be broken down as follows:

  • Homes priced up to 2.5 million baht accounted for 9.27%
  • Homes priced between 2.51 - 5 million baht accounted for 45.70%
  • Homes priced between 5.01 - 10 million baht accounted for 27.15%
  • Homes priced between 10.01 - 20 million baht accounted for 10.60%
  • Homes priced above 20.01 million baht accounted for 7.28%

The association acknowledged that the results exceeded their expectations and goals, with continuous bookings coming in. Initially, they anticipated a negative outcome due to the overall economic conditions and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The association is proud to have contributed to stimulating the country's economy before the end of 2020, as the first and second quarters were challenging for everyone. The results of the event instill confidence that the third and fourth quarters, especially during and after the event, will lead to further bookings that will help boost the country's economy. The data gathered from this event will be used by the association to assess the situation and find ways to develop the home building business in the future.

Additionally, Mr. Worawut emphasized that the success achieved reinforces the association's commitment to organizing the home building event in its traditional format. Given the nature of the home building business, it is essential to instill consumer confidence in the business, quality of work, construction reliability, and timely delivery of homes. Coming together to build trust and provide consumers with the opportunity to select leading companies through the Home Building and Materials Expo 2020 is crucial. Besides the bookings or sales generated at the event, the data also indicates that there are consumers planning or considering building on their land, ensuring that sales will follow after the event.
