"CPF" Partners with the "Ministry of Labor" to Contribute to National Economic Recovery Post-COVID-19 by Launching 3 Projects to Create 8,000 Jobs Across Bangkok and Provinces, Enhancing Skills and Reducing Living Costs for Insured Workers

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a widespread impact on the economy, leading to rising unemployment as many companies have reduced their workforce, resulting in joblessness and increased living costs.

Additionally, approximately 400,000 students and new graduates this year are at risk of being unemployed, which poses a significant challenge that requires collaboration from both the public and private sectors to address and drive economic recovery.

Charoen Pokphand Foods Public Company Limited (CPF) has collaborated with the government to help drive the economy and tackle unemployment caused by COVID-19 by signing a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Labor for three projects, which include:

1. A project to hire 8,000 new graduates.

2. A project to develop skills and create restaurant entrepreneurs.

3. A project to reduce living costs for insured workers.

Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Labor stated that the Cabinet approved a new employment promotion project for new graduates proposed by the Ministry of Labor on September 22, 2020, with a budget not exceeding 19.462 billion baht to assist new graduates in finding jobs, improving their quality of life, and enhancing their skills and work experience, targeting 260,000 individuals.

The government will subsidize 50% of the salary for new graduates, based on their qualifications, not exceeding 7,500 baht per month per person for 12 months from October 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021, with the condition that employers must be in the social security system and cannot lay off more than 15% of their existing employees within one year.

This project has received cooperation from CPF, which is a private sector entity ready to assist the nation through various crises, and this initiative aligns with the government's policy of "Unity for National Development", ensuring that new graduates in Thailand have job security and also helps create small to medium-sized restaurant entrepreneurs as a foundation for a strong economy.

The issue of living costs affecting workers during the economic downturn caused by COVID-19 is another challenge that CPF is addressing by providing special discount coupons for food, which is a basic necessity, to all insured individuals to help alleviate their living expenses during this time.

"According to the policy of Prime Minister Gen. Prayuth Chan-o-cha, there is a focus on accelerating economic recovery after the COVID-19 situation improves, supporting employment between the public and private sectors, especially for new graduates, while ensuring that all target groups are not overlooked. The emphasis is on ensuring that all Thai people have jobs in every area, enhancing human resource capabilities, and increasing the potential of workers and entrepreneurs to build a strong and sustainable economy for Thailand's future," Mr. Suchart stated.

Mr. Prasit Boonduangprasert, President of CPF mentioned that the 8,000 job positions offered by CPF in this project will include roles in Bangkok and its vicinity, as well as positions in provinces across all regions, with 4,000 positions in Bangkok and surrounding areas and another 4,000 positions in provinces nationwide.

These positions will cover various professions such as veterinarians, animal husbandry specialists, engineers, food development researchers, scientists, and IT officers who will contribute to the development of smart agriculture and smart factories, logistics, and services in CP Freshmart stores and restaurants. More details can be found at www.cpfworldwide.com or at the CPF booth at the JOB EXPO THAILAND 2020 organized by the Ministry of Labor from September 26-28, 2020, at the BITEC Bangna Convention Center.

"Reviving the country's economy is the responsibility of every capable company, and this collaboration with the Ministry of Labor represents another significant project for CPF in line with the company's Good Corporate Citizen policy, which has been continuously implemented even amidst the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. We believe that the cooperation of all sectors will help Thailand overcome this crisis," Mr. Prasit stated.

CPF also promotes the creation of small to medium-sized restaurant entrepreneurs through the "Restaurant Franchise Support Project", such as the Five Star and Star Coffee businesses, by providing training to enhance knowledge and elevate restaurant entrepreneurship, strengthening over 4,500 Thai SMEs.

These two businesses require a minimal initial investment and can operate in compact spaces across all regions of the country, allowing individuals to start a Five Star or Star Coffee business immediately, with the company providing training courses and mentorship.

This project will help elevate the skills of everyone to become restaurant and coffee shop entrepreneurs, significantly contributing to job creation and serving as a foundation for driving the country's economy. Insured individuals can check the details of the discounts at Line: @CPFreshmart from September 25 to November 30, 2020, while True Corporation will also provide True Social Plus SIM cards to insured individuals, with inquiries available at 1788.
