The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has developed an operational plan for tourism in 2021, with the global COVID-19 pandemic being a significant variable affecting the economy.

This will impact travel in both near and far markets. In the worst-case scenario, total tourism revenue is projected to be 675.7 billion baht, a decrease of 9%. In the best-case scenario, total tourism revenue could reach 1.52 trillion baht, an increase of 105%.

Focusing specifically on the foreign tourist market in Thailand, three scenarios have been established:

1. Scenario 1: The market does not recover (recovery in late 2021 - Q4) with the number of tourists at 6.14 million and tourism revenue at 296 billion baht.

2. Scenario 2: The market recovers moderately (recovery in mid-2021 - Q3) with the number of tourists at 12.5 million and tourism revenue at 617.5 billion baht.

3. Scenario 3: The market recovers quickly (recovery in early 2021 - Q2) with the number of tourists at 20.5 million and tourism revenue at 977 billion baht.
