SC Asset Reveals Customer Behavior: 'Why SC Homes Are Selling Well... Defying the COVID-19 Trend'

The findings were summarized from a group of customers who visited projects and participated in surveys during the COVID-19 period. The data revealed that a significant 82% of customers already planned to buy during this time, while 18% of those who had no plans to purchase previously decided to expedite their decision.

Regarding customers' plans to purchase housing, they can be categorized into three groups:

  1. 82% are purchasing the same type of housing they initially planned.
  2. 12% are adjusting their purchasing plans, such as switching from condos to townhomes for better value and more space, or from houses to townhomes due to reasonable prices and convenient locations, with townhome designs also meeting their needs.
  3. 6% had no plans to buy but, due to having free time during COVID-19, visited projects, liked what they saw, and decided to purchase to accommodate their future living needs.

The overall reasons for deciding to buy housing sooner stem from key factors, including:

  1. Promotions: 29%
  2. Preference for the home and overall project: 23%
  3. Having time to switch to buying now: 19%
  4. Low interest rates: 3%

The COVID-19 situation, which kept families at home, allowed them to visit projects together, leading to quicker joint decisions. This was another factor contributing to SC homes selling well in the second quarter of 2020, achieving record highs in weekly visits and sales. Key reasons for choosing SC homes included:

  1. Preference for location, house design, atmosphere, and overall project.
  2. Confidence in the company and project quality.
  3. Reasonable pricing.

During this period, customers have shown concern not only for the houses themselves but also for common areas, considering future living styles or the New Normal, such as focusing on dust-free and germ-resistant materials, as well as the importance of well-allocated common areas and maintaining social distancing in shared spaces.
