Thammasat University and SkillLane Launch Free Online Master's Course to Combat COVID-19
In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has raised widespread concerns in Thai society, Thammasat University has partnered with SkillLane to launch a project offering free online master's degree courses aimed at future skills (TUXSA) for the first 10,000 registrants by April 30.
Assoc. Prof. Kesinee Vitoorachati, the President of Thammasat University, revealed that the university has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. In addition to establishing a task force to support over 40,000 faculty, staff, and students at all levels, Thammasat University, as a people-oriented institution, is committed to the “Stay Home, Stop the Spread for the Nation” initiative while continuing its mission to provide quality educational opportunities to all members of society. Therefore, the university has decided to offer one online master's course without credit fees to the general public to develop future skills in response to disruption.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chali Jaroenlapnoparat, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Thammasat University, added that after discussions, the university collaborated with SkillLane to launch a registration project for the Thammasat University and SkillLane Online Master's Course (TUXSA) for the general public, free of charge (Audit) for one course for the first 10,000 registrants. Registration for the course on Data Science for Digital Business Transformation will be open from April 21 to April 30, 2020.
“The main objective of this project is to encourage online learning while staying at home to avoid close contact and prevent the spread of COVID-19. Another reason is to ensure that everyone has access to Thammasat's educational content to promote equality and peaceful coexistence,” said the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Mr. Thitipong Pisitwuthinan, CEO and co-founder of SkillLane, added that in such circumstances, many people are avoiding crowded places and spending more time at home to reduce the risk of virus transmission. We want to support everyone in using this time to develop useful skills in the digital age through online learning via smartphones or laptops anytime, anywhere, at no cost.
The course available for registration is Data Science for Digital Business Transformation (M.S.
