GHB customers enter the debt suspension program - 4 months of interest waived, nearly 40 billion baht in just 8 hours! A total of 6 assistance measures have reached 221,912 accounts with a loan amount of 232,307 million baht.

Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, Managing Director of Government Housing Bank (GHB), stated that the bank's board, led by Chairman Mr. Parinya Patthanapakkadee, has resolved to enhance assistance measures to alleviate the financial burden on customers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This initiative also serves as a New Year gift for the Thai New Year, with the fifth measure allowing for a 4-month suspension of principal and interest payments. The bank will waive the interest for the suspended payments at the end of the loan term. Customers can start expressing their intention to join this measure today (April 13, 2020) from 9:00 AM. As of 5:00 PM today,

in just 8 hours since the program opened, 39,423 customers have expressed their intention to join the fifth measure via the Mobile Application: GHB ALL, with a total loan amount of 39,525 million baht. When combined with all 6 measures aimed at reducing repayment burdens under the “GHB Helps Thai People Build the Nation” project, a total of 221,912 accounts with a loan amount of 232,307 million baht have already joined the program.

Customers approved for the fifth measure can immediately suspend principal and interest payments for 4 months starting from April 2020. After the 4-month period, they can resume payments under the original interest rate without any additional interest burden. The bank will waive the interest for the 4-month suspension at the end of the loan term.

To qualify for the fifth measure, customers must have a total loan amount across all accounts not exceeding 3 million baht and a monthly income not exceeding 35,000 baht. This covers low to middle-income customers, with approximately 1.1 million accounts eligible for the measure, including both normal accounts and those with overdue interest or legal status.
